Hello everyone... so do we know if they fly out to Pensacola Saturday or Sunday after PIR?   Also, when do they find out where they're going to be stationed and/or on a ship?

monicaanne:  Let your sailor plan the day.  Some just want to hang around in the hotel room, catching up on phone or computer (bring them)--wearing some "civies" that you brought from home (they can't leave the hotel room in them....must be in uniform outside of room)....you can also google "Things to do in Great Lakes/Chicao area."  Sarge, who holds the MeetandGreet for you all the night before PIR, will have info for you too.

Good Morning!

Gals,

Here's the A school group in Pensacola, which is a clickable link:

http://navyformoms.com/group/sailorsinpensicolaflforaschool

There are two schools there--- Corry Station for the Information Technicians (IT) and NAS for the Naval Air Station (pilots and aircrew).  This group has a very helpful N4M veteran helping out with lots of advice-- Beachbunny!

After your new Sailors move on through a certain part of the phases and have taken the securty & safety class -- they will be able to have Liberty with family and friends.  They will need a Liberty Buddy to check them out~~  They will know when they can have liberty when they get a watch duty schedule~~

The new Sailors most likely fly out on Saturday starting at 6:00 am and going throughout the day.  They are all bussed to the airport in the early hours of the morning, like 12:30 am.  In very rare occurrences when there are not enough seats on a flight to accommodate the Sailors all going to a particular destination, they may fly out on Sunday, but there is no way to tell when this would happen~~

I don't know what A school, just that it's in Pensacola. I read that liberty at A school is earned. I think for the first few weeks they don't get to leave the base but as time goes on I think they get to leave but only a certain distance. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what I read.
