Blessed Sunday!

It helps to send a phone card to them.   They can go to the NEX and buy one with their Navy-issued supply card, but you sending them one lets them save this money for other things.

Sent this verse to my SR. It helped me as much as it will help him and hopefully give you peace as well;

Deuteronomy 31:8 "it is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you, he will not leave or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed"

Lfactor2,   went to Walmart and purchased the 500 minute card for $25.    I think I remember reading that they give them a phone card when they arrive but not with a lot of minutes.

lovemysailor:  Sounds like he has some great RDCs who like how the division is doing and are allowing letters to go out more often?  At least, for now!  YAH!

No way to determine length of a phone call....when the RDC yells GET OFF THE PHONES, they are expected to respond immediately!

Good Morning!

Heard from my SR last night. He sounded emotional or tired not sure which, maybe both. He said he hasn't received any letters yet. We only spoke about 6 min and he said send a phone card the ones he had didn't work. What do your guys have for phone cards ? Is that why his call was so short ? I had a million questions for him lol.... It felt good to hear his voice !! Can't wait to see him.

MidwestMomNancy,

Wow, that is great that your SR got to try over and over till he got you!  Usually if they can't get ahold of you they end up leaving a voice mail message.

Our recruit called today, too, and all the warnings about having your phone with you at all times were true. We had just sat down in a crowded auditorium to watch our young granddaughter's dance recital when calls started coming in but dropping right away. After maybe five missed calls (we had moved to the lobby by then). We did have a great conversation; M sounded wonderful. He said he received my first two letters but cautioned me he may not have time to write much due to having to study and spend at least an hour polishing his boots tomorrow! He said the food is pretty good, something mamas like to hear. He mentioned his bunkmate having to have wisdom teeth removed, so I'm grateful his were done a couple of years ago. He also mentioned they had to spend two hours folding their clothes the other day, not so much fun, but that the physical workouts were very easy. He just sounded so good!

My SR called today.  First call since leaving.   Length of call approx 20-25 minutes.  He says when we write to tell world news and sports as they hear nothing of the outside world.  Sounded good.  Very chatty.

Our recruit called this morning and we talked for about 30 minutes. It was a wonderful way to start the weekend! He said he has not received any of our letters and the first chance they will have to write letters will be tomorrow. They will then Mail on Monday. Have a great rest of your weekend and stay cool!
