For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My friend recommended Psalm 91 as a comfort. Her Dad was in Navy and her Mom read it to the family when he was away. Just read it now with tears in my eyes. So special.

MamaValley: Since there is no Div 39 at Bootcamp right now, my guess is that your letter missing the 2 will eventually get to him since they will figure out what you meant, but it may take a while.
A suggestion for the questions you have: I would write a questionnaire sheet to him....i.e., 1. What kind of food do they have? 2. What time do you get up? etc. Leave room for him to answer on that sheet and ask him to return it to you. Especially this early on, they are very tired, very busy, so the best way to get the most info is to send some questions where they can just drop in the answers and send it back. Many family members keep questions written down with them at all times to talk about during a random phone call. But honestly, the best thing to do during that call is to just listen to your SR and let him/her talk! The calls usually end quite abruptly when their RDCs yell to get off the phones....there are no times for long goodbyes!

I have not received a letter yet. I have seen some post of sailors leaving on May 20th. That this is there PIR date. Is this correct? Or could it possibly be another date?
