HI - I ordered and received the commemorative coin as well.  It looks awesome, and was relatively inexpensive.  I also got it with his ship, "Reuben James".  Definitely a keepsake, and he'll remember his bootcamp days fondly, I'm sure!!  I met up with my nephew who is home on leave, and is stationed in San Diego this past weekend, and he did bootcamp 2 years ago.  He said once this is all over, it's like working a 9-5 job!  He's now on the downside of 4 years!  And he is doing great!!

Good Morning!

CatMom:  Hurricane Season starts June 1st.  So, nope, not early....we are right there!  We are fine down here with Arthur.....better to pray for all of those north of us.  My son has to drive to Daytona Beach today on business, and he may run into some rough weather on his drive....so pray for that please!

CatMom, I got my challenge coin in the mail yesterday and they are really cool and beautiful. I ordered the one with his ship. I think he will be very proud to share it and the stories behind it with everyone for generations about his BC days and the beginning of this important adventure in his life. Today is my mail day! That is fantastic news Jumanji, so glad you got that news. Be careful in this crazy weather. My oldest son was supposed to leave for vacation today on the coast of NC but he had to change all his plans. I imagine that is happening to a lot of people.

For those of you looking for a special gift for your SR-soon-to-be-Sailor, I got a couple of these Challenge Coins for my Sailor daughter when she graduated PIR last year, please check out www.pirgifts.com. Challenge Coins are a military tradition.  Craig, who is one of the veterans on Navy for Moms, designed the ones that are connected to the ships at RTC.  The name of your SR's ship is right next to the ship number in the Discussion Forum.  When you click on one of the coins, you will be taken to a page where there is a video about Challenge Coins.  This would be a special gift especially connected to their Boot Camp days!  Another really sharp coin is the Core Value one--it has cut outs and a diamond cut beveled edge.  These coins are no longer given out by the Navy to the Sailors, so it is up to friends and famiily. My Sailor daughter thought her USS Hopper (Ship 03) coin was "cool."

Leemarkop- thanks for your thoughts and prayers, that's the only thing that gets us through.

Diannep - thank you for your concern, I am just grateful every day that the phone does not ring with issues for my SR. Will continue to pray for the health of all of our SR's in the last few weeks. I know they are tired and worn down.
