We just got back from Chicago! I am so proud to be a Sailor Mom!!! We wanted to take our son to a really great steak dinner that wasn't too pricey like many of the restaurants and wasn't all the way in Chicago. We found a place called Wild Fire that was about 20 minute out but it was amazing. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! They have steak and seafood. I would highly recommend this place.
Amen, Jumanji! Those of us still on here to help the newbies through enjoy it! We know that it is hard for the families of the SRs....we have all "been there!"
You're welcome, gals!!
Thanks for all the feedback!! No idea why those upper bleachers are recommended by Sarge at all. I see those seats as where you end up if you can't get the really good lower bleachers--especially that favorite back wall spot (way to go, elizabeth!!)
We love helping new Navy Moms!! Stay plugged in here--all kinds of groups to connect here. You can also find me in the Christian Chat group~ Blessings to you all!!
Hello Friends!
"For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:10
elizabeth: We have heard others complain of the same block in view from the balcony. We like to advise all to get there EARLY and test out different seating positions. SO sorry that you had a semi blocked view. We found that in the middle of the lower level bleachers gave us a great view.
Jumanji: Glad you were able to call and order the DVD!
If you go to the meet and greet, Sarge recommends sitting in the balcony. Don't. He thinks the view is better. We sat up there to begin with but the railing is in the way and you can't stand near the railing to get closer. So we moved downstairs. We ended up sitting on the top bleacher with the wall to lean on. So much better for my back!
It is very cool in the building. Bring a jacket.
We took Sarge's shuttle to the hall. $3/person. My exhusband came later and then gave us all a ride back to the hotel. If you take the shuttle back, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, you will be taking a walk to get to the pick up area.
That's all I can think of for now!
Thanks to CatMom, Diannep, and all of the wonderful ladies that have been part of this group. I think most of us feel the same way, that this group was a life saver!
So disappointed that I wasn't able to meet more of you. I did get to meet emi, jodymac , Rhondi and missingmyjj. But anyother woman that I asked, didn't even know about Navyformoms.
Thanks for all your help, gals!!
By the way, were there any changes or anything different that we could advise future PIR groups??
lawdgo247 as Elizabeth said dress spanned the spectrum. From shorts and flip flops to dresses. Business casual is a good rule of thumb.
There was a wide variety of clothing worn by people. Your sailor will be in his dress whites. It is a formal occasion. A dress or slacks, in my opinion, are most appropriate. But you will also want to wear comfortable shoes, as you may be walking quite a bit.
