My son also called an hour or so ago. He said unfortunately one of the SR from his division (219) snuck out of their dormitory last night around 1 am and was caught trying to go see a female SR in another division. He is being "Kicked Out' of the navy. I can't believe he got this far, just 2-3 days before graduation, and made such a bad decision. I feel bad for him and his family.
On another note, my son, who is going to A school in Maryland for Mass communication specialist, said he is being taken to the airport at 3:00 a.m. saturday morning and his flight leaves at 11:00 a.m. I am glad that I'll be able to spend so much time with him at the airport.
He sounded very excited but I think I more excited than he is!
Hey ladies, I just read today on facebook that a lot of families decorate the hotel room doors for their new sailor. I was not aware of this and guess it is a pretty regular thing the sailors really enjoy. I'm sprinting to get one together while packing. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up incase you wanted to do it for yours!
Congratulations and Safe Travels everyone!
Hi Friends!
"I have set the Lord always before me;
because He is at my right hand
I shall not be moved."
Psalm 16:8
Rueben: I agree with CatMom. I think it is more like 10 pm that they have to return to A School base.
Winning Captains Cup means that his division was either the all-male or integrated division winner, or possibly the motivational chant winner (more likely one of the first 2 though). They pick 2 winners, possibly 3, if the chant winner is different from the all-male or integrated (male/female) winner. Congrats to his division!
Good morning and safe travel for those leaving today!
I got the call yesterday at 5pm, my son is a US Sailor!! Can't wait for Friday!
CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!! Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!
Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey. Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school, ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the Christian Chat that I am a part of!
Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR. If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~
Rueben James,
I think the time is more like 10 pm and don't forget, you have Sunday with your SR too!! He will want to be back 1/2 hour to 45 minutes/1 hour before that time to make sure he is back early enough. Remember, "on time" is late for the Navy!!
My son is moving over to A school in GL and I was told that they don't have to be back until midnight each evening. Does anyone know for sure how late they can be out Friday & Saturday?
