For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I got the call!! We spoke for about 15 minutes. He is doing very well. He sounded excited and upbeat. He said so far all they've really been doing is folding clothes and making their beds. He said he's been doing good and helping those who are having a little trouble. I'm so proud of him. Thanks for the heads up Catmom!

Just got a call from my son! I was very surprised! It was so great to hear from him. He said it is a roller coaster ride right now, but he sounded great overall. That just made my day! Yes, keep your phones close...it came in early and was an 847 area code.

I agree with CatMom. Keep your phones ON during Bootcamp! You never know when a random call will come from your SR (sometimes very early in the morning for you, depending on where you live)....maybe needing more info (supervised short call, but a call !!!) or a personal call. So keep them on, answer all calls, even if you don't recognize the number, but just kindly get rid of telemarketers so your SR can call. Although 847 is the normal area code from Bootcamp, other Chicago area codes have been received before....

Got the box today and the letter stating PIR July 18. Ahh, the smell of his shirt. Cell phone charging and hoping for a phone call this weekend.

Here's a friendly "heads up" that calls might be coming in from your SRs this weekend. Please have your cell phones with you at all times, charged and ready--upstairs, downstairs, on your nightstand, out in the backyard, out with you to get the mail, in the bathroom for any reason.... If going somewhere loud, put it on "vibrate" and slip it into your pocket. If going somewhere out of range, record an outgoing message that your SR can hear and possibly leave a message for you.
Your phones could show "847", "Pay Phone", "Governement". Pick up all unfamiliar calls! If it's a sales call, please just politely tell them "No, thank you."
