For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

jaysmom: We stayed at Residence when up there....the 2 bedroom suite would be perfect for your daughter's family. A little pricey, but call and ask for the Navy Graduation rate or use AAA, 0r other discounts you may have (we used our AAA rate). They have smaller suites as well (stuidos maybe?). All of the hotels CatMom mentioned below are very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet and in a good area! Only 4-5 miles to RTC.

Jays mom- that's the reason I booked springhill suites. They seemed to have nice sized rooms. I can also cancel up to 24 hour in advance.

You can try Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, or Courtyard Marriot---all in Waukegan/Gurnee. Call them direct and you can cancel any reservation up to the day of by 6:00 pm. Be sure to ask for the Navy graduation rate.

Ya, no way will I cancel the navy lodge, lol. I did call the great Lakes lodge directly and they told me the same thing. Keep checking back. I definitely need to make a second reservation though as my daughter will have a newborn with her as well as a 3 year old and 2 year old. Ya they need their own place.

jaysmom, diannep or CatMom will post the hotels again, I don't have it tucked away. LOL Whatever you do don't cancel your reservation at the Navy lodge right away, you can book two hotels.
Call them once a week and ask if they have had anything open up, make sure you call the hotel directly, not their reservation line. Since the Navy Lodge handles reservations for only DoD employees things can change, and change, and change, and change again. :) Something may open up in the next couple of weeks.
