ruzymommy - the PIR pictures everyone is referring to is on the RTC facebook page....www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand....I think thats it. I just noticed that have loaded the 7/6 PIR sometime today....they weren't there this morning when I checked. And don't forget those in 937 division should be participating the next two PIR's 7/13 & 7/20....might get a peek at your SR. I hope we all do!!!!
It can be confusing as processing days are not counted as training days, like has been said.
My son was at BC for 8 weeks plus 2 days, but because of processing and p-hold he ended up in a push division and went through BS the week of PIR training week 5 day 5 (overnight to 6-1) and never did have a "week 6" of training (sort of). I got the I am a Sailor call just two days before we headed to Chicago (of course being the "funny guy" my son is, he told me he failed at first and was being asmo'd, giving me not only a heart attack, but a panic attack..lol). So have I confused anyone now...haha.
BS can start anytime the week before PIR and in some cases (though not often) the Wednesday before.
Remember to let diannep know if your SR tells you what date their BS is so she can let everyone know. You all should be hearing soon!!!
We got a letter!!!!! Never in my life have I been so excited to get mail....right now it's the best thing!!!!! My SR sounds great....the difference between his letters now and that first one....night and day!! I'm so happy for him. He said that after the week he was writing (7/5/12) the 937 would be a Senior Division....that has a nice ring to it, huh? Besides the obvious he said that being a Senior division also means that they can send mail on Tues, Thurs and Sun....so that means we might start seeing mail a little more often next week. A few things he reported on:
lots of Drill Training
Live Fire - he was very excited about that
They have received Division Flags for Academics, PT, & Zone Inspections
The next flag they are working on is Drill
So much is going on for them and he sounds great!!!! I am such a HAPPY mom!!!!
OmahaRudy - my SR does know your SR....he says he is a great guy and really cool. I will send you a private message. I'm sure you will get another letter soon...
I have managed to settle in to a nice place the past couple of weeks with all this bootcamp stuff...of course, so much better than those first 3 weeks....but now I'm getting so excited that I feel that anxiousness again...but now it's out of joy...I can't wait for PIR and to meet all of you!!!!!
OmahaRudy per my calculations I am on the same date as u. Either 5-1 or 5-2 depending on how the holiday factored into their schedule. So yes they would have Battle Stations next week. This is based on what information my son gave me a few wks ago.
OhWendy: My son was there starting 3 days before Thanksgiving the year he went, and going through the Christmas/New Years holidays. So...that made his bootcamp over 9 weeks long....to top it off, he got asmoed for a week, so by the time he got out of there, he had been there for over 10 weeks. He was more than ready to get out!
They have it down to a science up there and I think they almost always stick to the schedule. they pretty much have to because there are SOOOOOO many of them there at one time :-)
Thanks diannep- That does clear things up some. You keep reading how bootcamp can be from 7-9 weeks or longer. It just seems like they don't have enough time to get everything in, but I guess they know what they are doing. :)
OhWendy: There are bootcamp weeks and there are training weeks--bootcamp weeks are 8; training weeks are 6. Your PIR group could be starting Battlestations next week. However, with just 6 divisions going through, it is possible for them to wait until the beginning of PIR week. They are finished training by 6-5 (week 6/day 5).
Just remember, ladies, that I'm collecting BattleStations dates, so if you hear from your SR and get a date, please friend request/private message it to me. I'm keeping a schedule, but have no dates yet. Thanks!
Be sure to read the BattleStations discussion above in the Forum for more info on BattleStations.
