Good Morning Ladies, These posts about the underwear are hysterical. I was reminded of when my son was getting ready to leave for BC and I kept asking him if he needed help getting his things sorted out. We had agreed it would be a good time to sort through and purge some old clothes. So not wanting to hover I left it to him and of course at the final hour and many reassurances that he had really gotten things organized I walked upstairs to his room and he had two, not piles, mountains of clothes lying on the floor. You always look for the tell, don't ya. He kept saying he wasn't nervous but there it was two huge mountains of clothes. Of course you couldn't tell which was which, so we had a good laugh and went and did something else.
Just think he now knows how to fold, properly all those clothes. Too bad we got rid of the piles.
Bet they will have volunteers for that front desk check in duty once the word is out about the pink bags.
Lala thanks for the info on the ribbons, I wanted to put my sons first name but knew everyone else knows him by his last. Love the stuff you make, think a luggage tag might also be on the horizon.
My sons recruiter just called me to let me know he got a letter from my son as well. That was very considerate of him. Huh maybe we didn't screw him up too badly after all.
Getting excited about PIR ladies.............!
OmahaRudy, yes I can imagine he would love Victoria's Secret, lol
Yep, the underwear is definitely something that goes. My son requested that I bring him boxers when I came to PIR. He changed the minute we got to the hotel room.
ruzymommy - I know what you mean....never a concern here about their care...I know the RDC's truly do have our SR's best interest at heart and want them to succeed as much as they do. But not knowing what they are doing is the hardest part for me. Like so many of you, I'm sure....I was always so involved in my SR's activities....from cub scouts to little league to his high school music stuff...I helped whenever/wherever I could. Now that part of my job is over and boy is it hard!!!!
I too am so happy for OmahaRudy...so glad she heard from her SR and passed along how they are doing. I'm hope to get a call too!! My SR said in his last letter that they may be able to call this Friday. Hopefully week 4 (Hell Week) will go well and they will all get to call!!! Sending good thoughts and prayers out to RTC!!!
I agree about them ditching the underwear. For my Sailor/daughter the first stop in the mall was Victoria's Secret, the second stop the bathroom to change lol.
So happy for your call Omaha :-) I know it warms your heart to get a wonderful call like that.
Glad to hear you got a call OmahaRudy! I'm jealous but very happy for you! I think the worst part is 'not knowing' what is going on. I have no doubt they are being taken care of! Never was that a concern...just the mom in me wants to know!
It is very comforting to know that our US Navy Sailors (soon!) can impeccably fold their underwear! HA! Have any of them told you all yet about having to get up in the middle of the night to iron? Yep, they do.
OmahaRudy: So glad you got to see some of the Olympic swim trials! Are you a swiming enthusiast or just interested in seeing some of the trials? One of our lifelong friends just finished 6th in the 200 fly...his parents and I swam together competitively "many moons" ago. So exciting to follow his progress since he was an underdog, only 19, and wasn't expected to do as well as he did! But no one told HIM that! We are all so proud of him!
