Glad to hear you got a phone call OmahaRudy and that your son is doing well and is healthy , that always makes at least a few days go by quicker.

In BC they learn to fold their underwear over and over and over and over again until perfect. After BC they  want them in the trash as soon as possible, hopefully to never be seen again, especially if they are boxer boys and anti-granny panty girls.

Yes you can take boxers or whatever to them. They cannot have them until they  leave RTC (move to the other side for A School or are at the airport).

OmahaRudy - great news on the call. Hopefully my SR will perfect underwear folding soon and earn a phone call too....lol. so glad to hear the division did well with Marlinespike. Im sure the inspection will go great tomorrow! I know my SR is looking forward to the small arms training.

25 days till PIR....

Just got off the phone with my SR!! He earned a 10 minute phone call because he could fold his underwear correctly! It might have been a little more than that, but it makes a better story the way I tell it! He sounded SO good! He's gotten some sleep and he's healthy! Last Friday they did Marlinspike. He enjoyed that and they did well. Tomorrow is a big inspection -- the division will be doing small arms training while the inspection takes place.

You know what's really fun? The way he can see the point in why they do what they do!

They do love getting our letters and hearing what's going on at home.

Both times he's called, both my husband and I have been in the same place at the same time! Tonight we'd just gotten home from the Olympic Swim Trials. If the call would have come a little sooner, we wouldn't have been in a pace conducive to conversation. The timing was impeccable!

What a nice way to end the evening. here's hoping you get calls, too!

FYI - I joing the RTC on FB and there was a notice on there asking us to be careful when we chat on this site about giving out info when the SR travel.  Any kind of travel.  Just thought I should pass that on.

Loriemae, I will get them to you in plenty of time. You can place your order through my website http://www.uniquememorymakers.com/ And if you have any questions at all feel free to send me a friend request on this site or an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com I am happy to help in any way I can and I look forward to making ribbons for you and your family to wear to PIR to show your pride and support for your Sailor :-)

No problem, Loriemae.  LaLa is fast getting those ribbon orders out.  I'm sure she will be in touch with you!

Thanks Lala.  The questionnaire is great.  I especially like the encouragement paragraph at the end.  Well said!!!!  By the way, I was going to place a ribbon order today...how long does it take to get it?  My SR's PIR is 7/27...will I get it in time?

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 2, 2012 at 8:55am

I just posted a questionnaire in the discussions above. This is one I made for my Sailor because I wanted to her to get all the encouragement she could before going through battle stations. I also wanted her to know how proud I was of her and all that she had accomplished. Feel free to copy and paste and take away or add anything you like and make it your own to send to your recruit. Even if you don't like questionnaires you can probably find a way to use the encouraging paragraph about battle stations. My Sailor is a girl so you may have to tweak it a little to make it your own :-) This one is funny and encouraging. Enjoy!!!

Yep, me too prayers for all those affected by this terrible weather, storms, power outages, fires etc. Lots of bad things happening to good people right now.

Good morning all.  I ditto what aster said about those struggling with storm damage, power outages, and the heat right now.  Prayers!
