Love the countdown clock, like counting down till Christmas as a child!

For those of you who have lost power, suffer during this extreme heat or unstopping rains, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

LaLa - I love the "ship"

Thanks for that info, OmahaRuth>  Haven't finished the paper yet but going to look at the Parade section now!

Happy b-day to FTLW's son.

For many of the rest of you, glad the forces of nature haven't had worse effects. Once again we are shown how little control we have over things.

Did anyone else see today's Parade magazine? I know it is included in many Sunday newspapers. There is an article about Katy Perry's Independence Day concert. I wouldn't know a Katy Perry song if it bit me in the butt, BUT I sure enjoyed the photo that accompanied the article. Strong, proud, handsome Sailors who were "giving her a lift" :) Check this out http://www.parade.com/celebrity/celebrity-parade/2012/06/28-katy-pe...

Betsy, Glad you and your family are Ok, what very strange weather we are having this summer.  Fires in Co., rain, rain and more rain here in Seattle, and Tropical storms in Maryland!  Huh, wonder if someone is trying to tell us something.  Thank goodness about the trees that is so scary.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on July 1, 2012 at 1:48pm

Happy Sunday, ladies!  I'm back online now.  We did lose our internet from the horrendous storm on Friday night.  We were very lucky though because we did still keep our power and by God's grace, not one tree on our tree lined yard fell.  I have a lot of relatives that still have no power and our temps here in Maryland have been in the high 90's.  Yikes!  My daughter and grandchildren spent the weekend at our house, since they had a flooded basement and no power.  This storm was a "derecho" which is a devastating storm with straight line hurricane force winds.  We had winds that were 90 mph.   I'm so glad to be back online.
