Thank you FTLW for the advice! I was thinking...man what's going on with my daughter's division...I too am relieved that it is not just her division... (Not in a mean way).
Happy to hear that all divisions will pull it together!
Tomorrow (Wednesday) we are having a small get together/meet and greet at our rental house for anyone who lives in the New Port Richey FL/Tampa/Holiday/any surrounding areas for any Navy Moms, wives, grandmas, aunts, girfriends, anyone lol that would like to come. Please send me an email if you can join us. We would love to meet you. If you have kids and want to bring them that will be fine too :-) my email is uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com Thanks
OmahaRudy. Brother divisions train together so they are on the same training day. But the others may be a day to a few days apart in training days. Lower-numbered divisions are the furthest ahead in training. They will do BattleStations first.
And....FTLW and I will tell you that in each PIR group, there are those who are "talking" too much in their divisions. There are also those divisions where they are being told that they're "not coming together or working together." This panics alot of the ladies on here, but it is very common. By PIR Day, you will see that they all come together...and in a beautiful ceremony!
So try not to worry. Your SRs are being taught some wonderful life lessons.
...I'm still trying to learn how to "stop talking." Sigh...guess I need to go to bootcamp! :-)
Talking seems to be the most common issue in BC.
After BS my sons div and brother div had a "party" and then were asked what they thought of BC overall. My son being, well my son, stood up and asked (sailor speak incoming), "why the hell couldn't everyone shut the *&^% up during BC. We do the same things, eat the same things, shower together (and other things), go the same places, see the same faces, wear the same clothes and underwear, have the same shoes, the same haircut and sleep in the same room. What the &^%$ do any of us have to talk about...lol. Enough ranting lets party."
Yep it seems all the Division have this issue. As FTLW said even in A School when in formation they still talk and still get in trouble.
My son and several others got in trouble when they were outside practicing for a PIR in May (competition for ships at that PIR) and it started to rain, several of them started talking about wanting to get out of the rain and got caught, as the rain poured down harder , they were told to get back to their ship and they all started to run back...wrong thing to do and they knew it, in trouble twice in about ten minutes time. They "all" ended up with some IT, not too bad though the Chief couldn't blame them to bad for wanting to get out of the pouring rain
There will always be those who take longer to figure out when to stop talking. This is quite common as FTLW stated. As moms, we really don't like hearing that they are being punished for someone else's actions, but they are all learning to become a team and this is part of that process.
OhWendy - Glad he did well with the widsdom teeth, sounds great and YAY on their first Flag...that does mean they are doing well! This is about the same time my sons Div got their first call...right after 2-5 and for doing well their first big academic test. The "coming together" should continue on!
To see the Flags at BC...see this Discussion:
Flags and Pennants that your DIV can earn while at BC
The "talking" is common throughout all of BC...and beyond to "A" school sometimes. There is no talking...not even especially at chow in the galley during BC... no talking really unless given permission. This can be really hard for some (I know I would have a problem).
Many of your recruits may write home about this to vent...just read it and let it go...nothing you can do about it (I'm not pointing fingers at you OhWendy...your post is fine, no worries!...just sparked a "topic" for me...so no personal pointing at you...this is a general remark.)
Haven't noticed it here, but a caution in advance...sometimes a recruit will write home that their Division isn't getting it together...and they may write what their opinion is as to why. Examples...people won't stop talking...don’t listen...so it gets the Division in trouble etc. Some moms have felt led to ask others to please write their recruits to behave themselves if they think it is their recruit doing it (which I think is unfair personally...how would you know and they don't need us slamming them in BC for something we have no control over).
I don't advise this at all...it can come around and bite that recruit and possibly the "mom" who posts it right in the behind! I say it because I have seen it happen and felt horrible for the injured parties.
One...this is common...and for some recruits may continue until the end of BC..but you will be amazed at how much change will occur after the fourth week for the better! Two, it is a personal vent between you and your recruit and should stay that way. Three, it's not really our problem anymore...they have signed a contract as an adult and it is the RDC's job to instill order along with the Recruit Petty Officers...as well as a chance for your SR's to blossom and grow.
So, just a caution for you all...not a slam. Want the best for you and your SR's.
(I recently had a mom contact me privately about this and ask me to please warn future PIR groups...so that is what I am doing! Not my fave subject...but the flip side is knowing, "Could I have done something to help before it happened?")
