thanks CrazyNavyMom, I can't believe it has really been more than a year since your son had PIR. That is crazy. Man time really flies after bootcamp. I am so glad you liked your ribbons :-)

hey all!! welcome to the crazy world of a navy mom.. i know you are well into your journey now!!! This is a good place to be to talk with others, share joys and saddness....  I was in your shoes in 2011!  omg feels like yesterday!!!  and I hated it... and still I shudder to think!!!  With that said..it is over soon and if it makes you feel any better, bout 80% of the kids i talk to say they would redo boot camp.  SICK KIDS HUH?  so..this is part of a mommy's life... raise em up and send em off... but they are in good hands.  Please do plan to attend the meet and greet whoever is handling that nowdays..its nice to meet all the women you talk to on here.  My group did fun things together online, like we all decided to wear pink scarves (now i see all the groups do it), we posted pics of ourselves in our scarves... and made each other smile.  Another thing we did is we all bought PIR ribbons from LALA Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons.  Why lala?  she has been a participating member of this forum forever..since her daughter went thru bootcamp... she has been member of almost every group here, offering advice, consoling and being a friend to anyone that needs her.  She isn't just here to promote her business.  but with that said, her quality is unsurpassed!  She makes lots of navy momentos, and other military group items, but her Ribbons will be one you will cherish forever.  and they look good in scrapbooks.    I see she has just posted here .. so her post is below mine..  but you can check out her things at http://www.uniquememorymakers.comand on facebook too at uniquememorymakers.

I never thought of it that way Dianne, I cook dinner every other day of the year maybe the fathers are supposed to cook on fathers day lol.

For anyone who has not found this group yet there is a Facebook group that is for any PIR date and DIV. Lots of people meeting there and finding others from their DIV and having private chats. So please join the group if you like. Just be sure to come back to this page and post any news or questions as well. Some people don't "do" Facebook and they like to hear all the good stuff as well. And you would be surprised at how many are hear trying to get info about what is happening to their recruit who are too shy to post anything at all. A lot of Mom's our age have never really used a computer very much so they are not only learning about the Navy they are learning a whole new way of communicating. If you are one of those or anyone else and need someone to talk to or ask questions in private here is my email address. uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com Send me an email and I will give you my number :-) and here is the link to the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/

Hmmm....FTLW:  Would have been better if hubby/sons came home "with" dinner, right???  I mean...it was Father's Day...doesn't that mean that the fathers provide dinner???  :-)

Glad you got your page set to private, aster.  Good idea.

Good morning all!
