Good morning all!
lol Omaha, I can send you pics you can send to him. I have one I took of a white squirrel on my front porch. You can tell him your new friend has white squirrels. My daughter's RDC didn't believe her and she got to make a very quick call to tell me to send one lol.
The letter to my Sailor from our cat was hilarious. Our cat is huge and needs to loose some weight and when our Sailor was home she was in charge of feeding him. She kept the bowl full all the time. I talked to the vet and had "special" food and was measuring out what he could have twice a day. The cat "Shadow" was not happy with his rations and kept going to my Sailors bedroom door begging for food. So the letter told her that since she left we have been starving him, that we don't understand his needs and she needs to get back here or at least talk some sense into us. He went on to say that he knew she was all grown up and needed to spread her wings like "Charlie" (our bird) but he couldn't understand why she left him behind with people who won’t take care of him and his needs. And, he knows how much she loves shoes but did she really need to go to camp in a foreign state just to get some boots? They do sell those at the mall right? lmao it was the funniest letter and she loved it hahaha
OmahaRudy, I don't know if you have any pictures of your son when he was younger, but I found one of my son in a sailor outfit when he was 3. I sent that one to him when he was in BC, with the title "A look into the future". :)
I"m back from golf :) It DOES look like we have more people on .... but still not a lot of talkers.
Lala, you're funny! I can just see me alone in that huge auditorium!! I'll cheer for all the other new sailors, too :)
Pictures, huh? When I first read that I wondered, "pictures of what?" So i created a postcard with four pics that I took at his going away party. Pets, huh? That's a good idea -- I'll have to start taking pictures of our adorable dogs.
What other pictures? Maybe I should just wander around and take pictures. I'll have to ponder.
Either many in this group haven't found this page yet...or this is going to be a "small" group. We should know soon when RTC posts the divisions in this PIR group on the "Upcoming Graduations" page.
ruzymommy: Don't forget piks of the pets! They LOVE those. I remember one mom who hung signs around her dogs' necks: FEED ME! Her SR had been the one that had fed the dogs when living there. It was so cute! I think one of the signs said: WILL WORK FOR FOOD. Send any piks that may put a smile on your SR's face. My son's favorite when there were the pet piks....Some even have the pets "write letters" with their paw prints at the end. Whatever they may have thought was "stupid" before bootcamp...will be very welcome now...trust me! They want to hear about HOME and be reassured that all are rooting for them!
So glad to see some new members in this group finally. I was beginning to think poor OmahaRudy was going to PIR all alone lol. So glad to have you all here. Now while there are only 8 pages of posts on this group it would be a good idea to start with page 8 and try to read the posts to catch up with whats been happening here. There may be some info that would pertain to you. And I bet some of you have already done that :-)
diannep
That is a great idea to scan the piks onto the back of the letters! I know she left tons of piks to send in her letters!
ruzymommy: Awwww....on her scribbled message of love and to send piks! So cute!
We suggest that you scan piks onto the back of your letters or on a separate sheet of paper....collage style. They store better (they have very little storage space) and also....paper won't make the envelope so thick---thick envelopes mean opening letters in front of the RDCs (their bosses!).
