Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OmahaRudy, ((Hugs)) I totally relate to the newness of the empty nest. We have 5 and last May we lost 4 of them almost within months. We only have one child living in MD, 2 in NM, one in HI and our sailor in WA state. Luckily, I have been finding that my parents are needing me much more now and my oldest daughter does depend on this grandmother to babysit in a pinch. I'm loving that, but there are so many days that I just miss my other 4 children so much. This website is a godsend and the ladies on here are gems. They keep me sane, so come on here and get in trouble with the rest of us. :)

Btw, I will be passing through Nebraska on my way out to CO so I could even stop by and pick you up for the road trip. :)

Never too early for think OmahaRudy, with an empty nest thinking happens a lot. Maybe you should come with us to visit Betsy lol.

OmahaRudy....I'm sure there are some thinking that way, some maybe not, and more probably some that aren't sure either way. :-) My son finished A School and wanted to make the Navy his career. Changed his mind later, but many stick with it. Just depends on where they are in life! Thankful for all who serve our country...either career or otherwise!

Comment by OmahaRudy on June 10, 2012 at 2:30pm: My daughter is in New York. She was here Memorial Day weekend when we had the going away party for my son. She left the day after he did. It was quite a shock to my system to realize HOW empty our nest was. My son had been out of the house working in Omaha living in an apartment. That's not the same as being in the Navy! This is a whole new level of empty :)

So, is week two too soon to start wondering if he'll make a career of it?

My day started pretty early as I had to drive my youngest daughter to the airport at 4:00a.m. She goes to college in NM and has a job back there, so after a month of being home, she's flown the nest once again. Boy, this week has been tough on the emotions, with my sailor going back to his ship in WA last week and now my daughter leaving. I will miss them both bunches, but if I look on the bright side, it does give me more time to be on here. :)
