Sigh....didn't proof below: Should be...."keep those IDs on YOU all during PIR.." and "....bikinis in TOW too...." It's early...sorry.
Here is another "treat" since you are so close:
Kleenex handy!
Ok, one last thing. We think that Div 937 went through BattleStations last night. Expect that calls could start as early as 2 pm GL time today....possibly later. Phones handy! Possible that 229/230 went through too, but I was given another "date" for them by a couple of ladies. So....just beware!
Congrats, Lorimae! Enjoy!
Paige's info below is a MUST. Keep those IDs on your all during PIR weekend. You will need them at RTC too. Remember to have the rental car agreement in your car if driving to PIR. Or, if in personal car, you must show insurance info.
So, we have been told that it can get chilly in PIR Hall so have a light jacket/sweater. We have also been told it can be HOT in there...so bikinis in two too :-) !
Dress for PIR: No dress code persay, but remember...your sailors will be in their finest. We suggest "business casual". Yes, nice jeans are fine. But most importantly, be comfortable! You have some walking to do that day and bleacher seating. So...comfort is the name of the game. Want to wear heels? Please carry them with you and wear walking shoes to the PIR Hall...switch into them there.
Most importantly, be early! Yes, those who wait because PIR doesn't start until 9 a.m. will find limited seating and not such choice seating, in addition to longer car lines/security lines. We were on the 6:30 hotel shuttle from Residence Inn. We were in PIR Hall by shortly after 7. Perfect. Many were already there. This is a smaller PIR group, so there will be more space. Just nice to get there early, test out your camera, maybe change your seat if you don't like the "view" from there. Here is a picture of "that moment" when your sailors march in! Goosebumps!
Hi Ladies - boy am I one happy camper!!!! Of course, in large part because in just a few short days I'm going to see my SR...yea!!!! and all of you ladies who have helped me survive these past 2 months....I don't know how I would've gotten through all this without you!!!! Thank you.
But I am also a happy camper because I am now officially on vacation....Yea!!!!! I stayed late at the office tonight but I don't have to be back until 8/2/12........I am oh so happy!!!!!!
OmahaRudy, ruzymommy, Urabisswife, Bathan6, and many more....see you very soon!!!!
Lala - your daughter is beautiful. Thank you for sharing her beautiful smile with us!!!!
If any of you have Sailors flying out for A school.. Please make sure you have your Id so you can get a gate pass. My son's GF forgot hers so she could not go with us to send him off.
Thanks so much ruzymommy, I am so glad you got them and very happy that you love them :-)
On this day, July 23rd, 2010 my Sailor graduated from boot camp. I cannot believe it has been two years. It is amazing how fast time slips through your hands once they leave the nest. I am so very proud of her and all her accomplishments. She is an amazing young woman and the US Navy is so lucky to have her as part of their fleet.
Lala-got the ribbons either Friday or Saturday...I was out of town...they are beautiful and I cannot wait to wear them with pride!
I received the phone call on Saturday regarding the Captain's Cup! Whoot Whoot! What a surprise that was and she sounded wonderful! She was all worried that I would freak out if I don't see her with her division because they come in different doors??? (For choir and a stick). I remembered to ask what flag...She will be carrying the Captain's Cup Flag! Now I WILL be able to pick her out! Excited to meet all of you! 4 day!
Thanks so much for posting this info, MomofDrew!
Good morning all!
Random thoughts from PIR 7/20: Got in line with rental car 7:30 wait wasnt bad at all. Security was a breeze. It was HOT not cold in the building. Dont worry what to wear. Just be comfortable. Dropped my glasses through the bleachers and two SR women(really they were girls, so young) went bleacher diving and retrieved them. Absolutely darling. There will be lots of SRs graduating the week after yours stationed around the building. Stop and talk to them. They will love it. I was asked the night B4 to let Sailors w/o family use our cells to call home after 'Liberty Call', but they cant touch a cell while there so that didn't work. The band plays way too many songs, but they did sound great. Band and drums were not as loud as we were lead to believe so wasn't scary for babies. Residence Inn was awesome. Continental breatfast at 5/hot breakfast at 6:30. It was delicous. Recommend it for families like mine that just want to hang and this place gives you enough room to do it. Which may have been a waste of money for us since Sailor and younger brother fell asleep together on the same couch. So cute. Dont plan on sushi for dinner if your Sailor needs to get back @ 1900. They dont open until 1700. Sailors are not prepared to make ANY decisions. You know what their favorite foods are. Dont even ask, just tell them. When dropping off go to the church parking lot not the PIR garage lot. Different gate. Sailors love to see other sailors in cars on the way back. Like they hadn't seen them for 8 weeks straight! This next part 'blows' as my 17 year old would say. We planned to meet at the airport to hand off elecronics but flight was changed at the last moment so he left for GC at 5am. Did not get to say goodby. The moms on the nukemoms site have helped with the address so I can send his things B4 he even knows what his address is. You guys are so close. ENJOY!
Yes, ellen and Betsy have given great info. I know of someone who had to turn around at RTC and go back to get the rental car agreement. You must have proof of insurance on the car you drive to PIR.
To add to what ellen said, also please make sure that you have your proof of insurance on your car or rental car agreement.
