Glad to hear everyone is receiving calls and letters from their SRs. I haven't been on N4M in a while because I was depressed having not received a letter or call from my son, but he called yesterday afternoon and I got a letter from him today. He sounded great, sounded like he's enjoying it (as much as anyone can enjoy BC, I guess), and he said he food is awesome. I'm a happy girl!
For those of you still waiting on calls/letters, I'll be praying that you hear from your SR very soon!!
Well, Grandma, Girlfriend and I all got letters today. And he sounds so much better. And there's a reason for that.
1) I believe he may be off limited light duty now.
2) He visited the Classifier (which I think is the equivelent of a career counsler) and although he believes he was lied to by the recruiter about being able to possibly obtain a job while in boot camp (he's undesignated) and found out he CANT get a job which has upset and frustrated him, he DID find out that he DOES NOT go to Pensacola for A-school after PIR and will REMAIN at Great Lakes for A-school for about 4 months. What he's so happy about, and has lifted his spirits considerably...is that he gets to spend the WHOLE weekend with Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, Mom and his girlfriend. Although he had said "this is nothing like summer camp" he's definitely a Happy Camper LOL.
I didnt get any other info in my letter. I could tell he was so excited. Probably what gave it away as on the outside of the envelope he wrong "Open NOW" and inside in HUGE letters at top he wrong "URGENT" and then at the bottom "so DONT cancel the hotel!!!" He didnt even sign it "Love" ... Just "Cory" LOL.
miss him so. But i feel like its much closer now have prepaired a bit already. Have my grad day outfit. Bought him a black back pack and the coveted Tide pen. And although our van broke down two weeks ago and we decided not to fix it so Ive been driving Cory's Firebird with the kids (ugh!) we bought a new van and pick it up tonight so we now have transportation to Great Lakes!
So yes, Im a happy and PROUD Mama! Now I'm hoping for a phone call soon. And worried because where our van needs to be picked up at...there's no signal LOL. It will be a quick sale! lol
Hope everyone else got letters!
One of the worst things was that my mail didn't run until after 4 each afternoon. I almost had them hold my mail at the post office so I could go by early and pick it up but I was afraid a letter might get lost so I didn't mess with the system.
One mom in another group knew her mail lady personally and she would send her a text alerting her that she had a letter from her recruit. Now that is what I call service :-)
Thanks to all of you who have been sending all the emails with the awesome compliments about the ribbons I am making for the PIR groups to wear to PIR and the Meet and Greet. You guys are all so nice and me makes me so glad that I am here and making ribbons for you guys to wear. I can't wait until you see them in person. They are much nicer than the pictures show. :-)
