greebie:  Although most get their wisdom teeth out (so there are no problems when they are out to sea), there are occasional ones who don't get them out yet...not sure how they make that determination, but I have seen that on the board.  But, like I said, most get them out if they haven't had them out already.

Sickness/pink eye are a part of every PIR group...big time. Even ones who normally don't get sick.  Close quarters, lots of vaccinations at one time which may compromise the immune system short-term, resistance down because of being tired and stressed, etc.  They all get through it...A School is much better all the way around--not so much illness, cells and laptops!!

I got my call from my SR!!!!!  I was walking in the house happy to have gotten a letter when my cell phone rang--it was my SR!!!!  He had 20 minutes and I had to share the phone with his dad and one of his brothers.  He was SIQ as the picture on RTC showed.  He had his wisdom teeth pulled and said they take out everyone's wisdom teeth as a routine matter.  Today was his first full day back.  Said he has been congested too but working through it.  Also mentioned that some had pink eye as well.  The whole division seems to have something wrong being in such close quarters.  He sounded much better than in that first letter and he sounded more mature already! Has a new appreciation for his family and what they mean to him.  We are a close family but this experience reinforces our closeness and makes him value it more.  He is missing everyone but knows the Navy will be a positive force in his life. It was soooo good to hear his voice and I felt like a kid at Christmas!  Hope all of you get your calls and will share here.  Oh yes, he said he had make 3 or 4 good friends that he is sure will be lifetime friends.  The one SR in the bunk next to him got a letter from his mom that asked if he knew a "my last name goes here" so one of you I am talking to on here has a son that is friends with my son!!! He said he thinks I am actually friends with sons of a couple of you on here.  That is so cool.

My cell phone rang and I rushed to get it as usual but for some reason on my cell phone it said unknown and it locked up and would not let me answer the call.  It was Ethan so I missed my call but he did call my husband at work and talked to him for about 10 mins.  My husband said he sounded great. Yeah..... My husband wanted him to try calling me back but he said he was being rushed.  Well I sure would have liked to hear his voice but he got to talk to his dad....  Maybe  they will get to call again soon:) Hope everyone else gets their calls today!
