ethansmom:  They are allowed to send back their letters in that large envelope you sent ---normally.  So my advice would be for all to send it if you want them to mail back all of their letters (because, yes, there is limited storage space...my son just pitched his letters....sigh....) but don't address it.  Let them address it.

I sent my SR a SASE once with a questionaire. He returned the questionaire in his own envelope but didn't mention anything about getting in any trouble over it. HUM? I think it depends on the person in cahrge and what kind of mood they are in on any given day.

Cory's mom that breaks my heart to know that they would rip those letters up in their faces. :(  I sent a large prestamped envelope with return address so he could send his mail back home to keep for him.. I received that advice from a Navy Mom stating that they had limited space and that if they wanted to keep their letters this would be a good way to do it.  I hate to do things trying to help out and then get him in trouble.  I already found out not to send thick letters or they make them open them up in front of them.  Of course my first letter was like a book-Oh well now I know-Thanks for passing on info.

CorysNavyMom - Thank you so much for the information regarding envelopes!

Got my first letters yesterday, other than the form letter. Can't wait to get a phone call so I can hear his voice. He sounds positive and says he's doing well.

i posted this on the the boot camp moms group but wanted to pass to everyone so I am posting it here too.

When I talked to Cory yesterday he mentioned to me NOT to send self addressed stamped envelopes to him. He said there is a certain way they have to address them including all caps and the way its written along with the size of the envelopes.

Just thought Id pass that along. He said they will rip them up in their faces.

CorysNavyMom, the thing is that my SR was positive just up to a few days ago from what I can tell from the letters. I do hope it's a case of, you know, having bad days & good days. Getting over injuries & illness is huge!

They need to keep their eyes on the "prize" I guess, easier said than done. Good luck to you & thx for your words, seems like it's all we as moms can do now is support each other...

AliceH51. Thank you! I'm sorry your SR is sick. That stinks! I am so afraid to get the call where he says his PIR has been moved. Because I've heard if its moved they won't march in the ceremony and that is so sad! He wants that so much...as of course we do too. I also just keep holding onto "it will get better over the weeks" and I tried to tell him that. I'm sure at this point he just doesn't see it getting any better. Once his foot heals and he can march with his group again I HOPE that will help some. I am SO hoping that the next phone call says "I'm feeling better!" He AND I need that ;-)

Prayers for all our SR's...and extra to the one's who are struggling through this journey!
