CorysNavyMom, so sorry you are hurting for your SR, I know how you feel, my SR is sick and afraid that he will fall behind and not be able to catch up. This is also depressing him. It breaks my heart and I feel totally helpless. I am in constant prayer for him and I will add your son and all the SRs that are having a hard time to my prayers.
Everyone keeps saying that these are the hardest days and that it will get better, I cling to this hopefully it will be better! Please remember you are not alone.
posting the website for the division tshirts again if anyone wants to order one. Remember, these were designed by your SR's group. They are a nice keepsake! Make sure your SR didn't already order them!

I also heard from my son today I was surprised I thought that it would be like another week I was hoping for a cal 7/4/11. It had been 3 weeks since I had heard his voice
Corys NavyMom I am sorry to hear your son is having a a hard time. I hope difficult things lessen and the div sharts to work more together. I think your son is in the brother div for my sons div. It does sound like he got to talk to you for a while though. How long did you get to talk to him?
I was so excited to talk to my son. He said they gave them 40 minutes to talk and he would share his time between me his Father and sister but after like 8 min into the call they told him they had to go so he only got 10 minutes. I felt so bad that he didn't get to talk very long or to anyone else but at the same time I am glad he called me first. Selfish I know
He says he is doing ok he says he is progressing well.
Passed his swimining test, big deal considering he never learned how to swim b4 this Pass his first written test. I let him know that i was so proud and that I was crying because i was just so happy to hear his voice. (can't tell the whole truth) but I was so happy for him. He says he misses us. Asked if he received any letters he said yes he even know what # number the last letter he got from me was ( thanks for the idea N4Ms) said they know his name now because of the mail He said it wasn't a bad thing. It was so sad when he had to hang up early i could tell he was so disappointed he couldn't talk to anyone else broke my heart. But we did get to hear from him.
I also got a letter today as well I feel very blessed today I am sure calls are coming for many of you as well and soon.
CorysNavyMom: Wow....I'm so sorry that this is such a hard time for him. I have a few suggestions as a veteran mom.
You WILL have more than 8 hours with him if he is flying out on Sat. Because...if you don't mind heading to the airport in the wee hours of Sat morning, you can do that and meet him out there...spending precious extra time with him until his plane leaves. You can get a gate pass from his airlines...and watch his plane leave...unless he happens to be on a charter flight....then no visits with family...hopefully that is not the case for him.
On the pink eye, that goes through the ships like wildfire. They get it cleared pretty quickly....my son had it. Thankfully he had it early on...some had it before BattleStations (final test) and therefore, couldn't go through that night. They eventually went through with another division.
They will all meet with a "classifier" eventually to discuss their rates, etc. If the job he wants is not available, I hope he chooses another rate. I say this...because many have been "forced" into changing their rates(jobs) just because of "full capacity" status in their chosen rate...and have been disappointed. Most come to really enjoy their new rate. So encourage him to be open-minded about what rate he can do.
As far as the division not coming together....this happens all the time! I read posts like yours on just about every PIR group. But guess what? They WILL come together. That is the RDCs' jobs and they do them well. Some divisions may be more difficult than others, but they all get there. Remember...the RDCs are working with SRs of all ages, from all backgrounds, life experiences, personalities, etc. A difficult task for anyone...but they have the "breaking down" process (what your SR is in now) which is so neccessary to get all on the same page....and then they start building them back up.
So please write your son more often than ever now...with lots of encouraging words. Your next letter from him may be totally different! Happens alot in bootcamp....they are so discouraged one moment; then feeling optimistic the next. Hang in there...you are not alone in this nor is your SR. Pray hard, write often and get other family&friends to write to him also. The letters help immensely, but be sure to tell all who write him to only include positive info, no negative. They don't need any negative news to weigh them down...they need to focus on that they are doing....becoming United States Navy Sailors! HOOYAH!
