amyj96 I saw where you were asking about the Meet and Greet. Please click on the all discussions and click on the meet and greet link and sign up for our dat 8/4/11.  I am staying at the SpringHill Suites in Waukegan. I got great reviews and is 3 1/2 miles from base.  Whereever you pick, be sure to call not go online because they really will give you a better rate than any you will find on the internet!

It was posted on here that they are already sold out of their "Navy rate" at Residence for your weekend.  We used our AAA rate and got a pretty good deal when there.

amy:  The MeetNGreet is Ramada Waukegan.  The address is:

200 N. Green Bay Rd

We stayed at the Reisdence Inn Waukegan.  Great hotel...studios and 2bdrm/2bath suites, all with full kitchens.  Pet friendly, PIR shuttle.  Free hot buffet breakfast each day.  I highly recommend it.  About 4 miles from the base.

Does anyone have any advice on where to stay?  Does anyone have experience with any of the hotels in the area?  And the meet and greet event, is that the ramada gurney?

sistersue...AWESOME! So glad you got the box and the letter! My son is ship 11 Div 243. Think they may be brother divisions! Glad your son is having a good time. Mine IS homesick LOL. But he's hanging in.

(ship 11 Div. 244) Finally got the box with my sons things followed the next day by a letter. He really seems to be enjoying boot camp and looking forward to it getting over so he can see the family. I was afraid that he'd be homesick (no more video games) but instead he is excited by everything that they are doing. So proud of him for joining.

I am so sorry I haven't been on here much for the last couple of days. My wedding is tomorrow :-) Tomorrow is also my parent's 51st wedding anniversary and they will be renewing their vows as well. It is going to be a special day for all of us. We have our family here from AL, MA, MS, SC, & NC and my sailor is home as well. It is a "small" outdorr ceremony in the National Forest. I hope you all have a great weekend and please keep us in you prayers. If you need to reach me about ribbons you can still send me a message on this site or email me at: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com I will be able to check emails and be back to making ribbons by Sunday evening. Thanks so much for all the kind messages I have been receiving from my HUGE N4M family. Love to you all <3  Lora/Lala the Ribbon Queen

It is posted.  It is called "Navy for Moms Community Guidelines" from our Admin friends here.  In their article are a few tidbits about safety and privacy.  I also included how to make your profile private.  :-)

Good advice, amberrose.  There was a lady on the PIR 7/1 group whose SR got in trouble for something she posted...and he was quite angry with her (wrote her).  She was devastated that she had caused this because she had no intention.  Not a good idea to share feelings/opinions of Navy personnel, etc expressed to you by your SR either.  Schedules are fine, but don't get to detailed on this site.  You can private message more info to your "friends" on here if you like.  That is ok.
