Ladies-
I posted info on jokes and such to send to your SR up in the discussion area.

As you may already know there is a special way to send your SR mail.

We recommend no colored envelopes (My SR never mentioned a problem. This is usually up to their RDC's like/dislike!). No bulky envelopes...they'll have to open it front of the RDC (contraband). No packages-again opened in front of RDC-if it contains edibles it will be thrown out or consumed by RDC's!

Definitely, no musical cards! We've heard stories about what happens with these from-dancing or IT while they play; sometimes until the batteries run out!
Sometimes moms have sent newspaper articles only to hear that they are thrown out before the SR can read them.

So, that being said here is what we do...copy Pics, jokes, puzzles(I did word searches), cartoons ( I did color with no problem but again that was my Sailors RDC's), drawings( little bros and sisters like to do this...moms too!), ON THE BACK of your letters. This keeps the envelope smaller.

We also recommend typing in 14 pt. font. Ummm...NO SR would ever dream of doing this (wink) but there is a red light on at night after lights out (think Naval vessel) that they sometimes read too. So no red ink either. I did hand write some to make it "homey".

I know it seems "plain" but the "back of the letter" thing helps.

Happy Writing!

Yeah, I know, all I was looking for ws the form letter, but i know that my boy thinks it's different cause we live here, but it really isn't...I still don't know what he's up to or if he is doing well or goofing off, ya know?

Here's to getting those calls!

Yeah, the last name thing! Hum...We havve had nothing but good ecperiencces with Navy personnel so I'm sure out sons are great people. Like I said, I have my nephew in A school here and his friend, whom we sponsered at Christmas are good men. Then there's Devon, my adopted son. His family wasn't happy about his joning the Navy and he lived with us for about six months. He has about two weeks to go before he graduates BC. I plan to go. So, like I said, we are all over this Navy thing lately!

onboard:  If you friend AaronsMom, you can "private message" your SR's last name to her and vice versa if you want to see if your SRs know each other.  Just can't post the names on the boards.

OnboardMom, we will all know this week! It is harder for the 800 DIV!! my nephew didn't take so long to contact us.  I am on cloud 9, its the best day other thatn when he and/or when my kids were born! You want to know something funny...the first "person" in the letter he asked about was his dog! LOL! Then his sister & then his Dad, who just had surgery!

I do hope the boys know, like and support eachother...they don't know it yet 'cause they are young, but friends they make now may be for life!

OnboardMOM:  It is entirely possible, but you realize they will only know each other by last name.  If we mention them in this forum, it will be by first name...OPSEC.  My son thought it was hilarious that I knew some of his shipmates.

Congrats Alice!!  I know you are on cloud 9...  Enjoy your letter.  Hope to have mine when I get home tonight.

amberrose-Great picture! Woo-Hoo!

There is something up with the weather link. I thought maybe I sent a bad one but I know it worked the other day. I went back to my PIR group and another PIR group and it is not working there either. Guess we can wait a little while and see!
