My nephew is an Air Rescue Swimmer as well, and has been assigned to Ship 4, Div 817.

I want to let you ladies know that I know what you're going through.  I went down this road a year and a half ago when my son signed up for the Navy.  The Navyformoms website was a lifesaver for me.  I enjoyed myself so much and made some dear friends through this website.  We kept each other informed the entire time and still maintain contact.  I can share what information I learned through the process.

My youngest sister is the primary contact, as my nephew's mother (my younger sister) passed away over four years ago.  I know she received the Sailor-in-a-box on Thursday, 6/16 (he left Sacramento on 6/10).  I did not receive my first letter from my son until 15 days after he left for boot camp.  Hopefully, you ladies will receive something by the end of this week.

I found a festive picture, and managed to upload a weather widget.  Next stop, the countdown clock!  :-D  Thank you so much for the suggestions, this is a learning experience for me as well.

Not to worry The raysmom, he will get his chance to show what a good leader he is. Especially during battlestations. It is all about teamwork and knowing in each situation who the best leader among them is. I am sure he will do well at bootcamp :-)

Lisa, I am sure that is will help and when he sees so many others sporting those awesome BCG glasses and their shaved heads he won't feel so self concious. I think maybe that look is starting to catch on lol.

Just a headsup to you all since you are early in bootcamp.  Some ladies like to share every detail of their SR's letters on Navy4Moms PIR groups.  Some have actually copied them verbatim in past groups.  This is not a good idea.  In one of the other PIR groups, one gf shared too much and her SR bf paid the price.  She was devastated....as anyone would be.  So you can share general info from the letters...that is fine...but personal comments about how they feel about the other SRs, the RDCs, etc....better not to share specifics.  We don't want to cause the SRs any hardships beyond what they are enduring in the activities of bootcamp.

theraysmom:  "Brother" division just means another division that they train with.  They also will go through Battlestations on the same night.  BattleStations, for those who may not know, is their final test--they are sailors once completing this.  There is much more info about it up in the BattleStations discussion group above.

Lala Ribbon Queen..thanks for the info on the glasses. That will make his day! I think between the BCG's and his bald head he is feeling self concious.  I just made light of it and told him I bet he is cute. And he is just like everyone else that has to help too right? :.)

Thanks diannep!
Yay, about Jessica!
That's great about the posts. I'll go back to my PIR and gather info. The only thing I might do different is to title them and put them in the discussion area. Easier for me to keep track of what I have posted. Like when I do Grad n Go and places to eat.

Thanks for all the insight

Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons - My son is also very social loves to lead and is ready to help. This are great attributes but not so sure how about it at BC he could get in trouble with each on depending on how uses them. I can't wait till I get a letter and see how he is

Diannep- my son and I talked a lot about him doing things that would get him in trouble and end up punishing his Div.  I hope he remembers as one slip and I know he would not do well watching others suffer for his actions. He learns fast so he should be ok.I hope

So question I looked on the Battle stations forum. What exactly is brother Div. Do they work together on tasks or compete against each other. With the term brothers can't be too sure.

The good thing is they can have their regular glasses or contacts for pictures and PIR if they got to keep them or you send them to them in time. It is a good idea to wait until they ask you to send them and then mark the package on the outside say what it is and what it is for. If sending contacts be sure and send a small bottle of solution with them.
