Ok, Wendy...you've been there---done that....so you know the drill!

Comment by diannep on June 19, 2011 at 1:21pm

Wendy, no specific days for calls. Very unlikely to get a call on a holiday...mainly because there could be 4,000-5,000 SRs on the base at one time.  That would be lots of phone calls.  Can't say that no one gets a call on a holiday, but I'm sure all don't.  Pretty early for calls for this group, but sometimes you may be surprised!  Mine got to call a couple of times when there within the first 2 weeks (on Thanksgiving for 5 minutes).  I didn't know any better then, but realized later that was highly unusual.

Anyway, please have your cell phones handy at all times!

Thank you diannep! Here is hoping everyone's husbands and fathers have a wonderful Father's Day!

These first couple of weeks are the hardest. Just keep writing those letters every day and have them ready to send as soon as you get the form letter. Getting their name called for mail is like Christmas morning. It is definitely the highlight of every day in bootcamp. :-)

I'm sure you will be a great "veteran", lisarobin!

Good Evening Everyone!  I haven't been able to be on. Busy with Father's Day weekend. Everyone had a great time and it has been a good diversion. I'm hoping my son gets to write tomorrow.  I have sent several letters now and anxious for him to write back and let us know what they are doing.  It was great to talk to him the other night but it was short and the Chief Petty Officer was standing next to him so I know he felt he couldn't talk long.  Thank you veterans for coming on board our group. You all are so nice. I hope I can be as much help as you all have been to us green horns. :.)

theraysmom:  The divisions other than 800 and 900 divisions are regular divisions with different ratings (jobs) in them.
Comment by diannep on June 18, 2011 at 4:49pm

greebie:  800 divisions (special ops) are not just for the divers.  They include all of the special ops rates. Sounds like "I love my air rescue swimmer's" SR should be in the 800 division also.

Comment by diannep on June 18, 2011 at 4:47pm

yes, greebie is right on the special ops being 800 divisions.  The 900 divisions are the "performing" divisions and usually contain those with singing, drill team, music experience...but will have others in there as well to perform other jobs at the PIRs.

I love my air rescue swimmer:  Did you get the form letter yet?  It should have his PIR date and ship/div number on it.  If you are Div 243-250, 817, or 938, you are in the right place on here!
