I'm stressing now. Son has been told that after he arrives in Japan, it could be a year before he can come home on leave. I was ok and dealt with news fine, but I've had it in my mind since I was supposed to be sleeping and have realized I'm a bit freaked. I've gone 3 months without seeing him, this is a lot longer. I'm happy for him though for getting to experience the world.

What makes it harder is my mom is talking about getting her passport and going to see him and isn't thinking at all about how he's MY son and I don't have the funds to make that sort of trip. I honestly think she thinks he's HER son. She has always forgotten that there are four other grandsons here she could also dote on. She would NEVER act like this with them. Saddens me for my other boys. They see it too.

CorysNavyMom, my son also leaves for Japan in Sept, he is excited. He wants to "get this show on the raod". I could use a little more time, but I am happy he is doing what "he" wants in life. Good luck to your son and you also :)

Wow, CorysNavyMom, that is so fast!  Now he gets to start seeing the world, and that can be very exciting!  Wishing him all the best.  Keep us updated, as much as is allowed, at least.

The opportunity to visit foreign lands is one of the many reasons my son joined the Navy.  He is still on hold waiting for his A School classes to start on August 24th and is looking at 1 1/2 years or more before his training is finished.

We just found out my son is headed to Japan in September. He has mixed emotions about that, but is enjoying A school a lot right now. Will see him for a few days before he leaves for Japan.

It is so nice to have frequent communication with our son!!! He is doing very well at A school in Great Lakes. He may be coming home for a visit soon before heading overseas. (I am not sure if I'm allowed to say what country on here.)  We are hoping to have him home for a few days atleast!!
