Posted this to Boot Camp Moms but thought you guys might like the idea... If you have the means, why not "adopt" a sailor after PIR, who has noone there for them, to go shopping, have a meal (your treat) and get out into the civilian world for a bit. If they are going to be there all weekend invite them to come along Saturday too. Just a thought. We are going to write Cory and see if he has one or two people who'd like to come with us. Like someone posted on the other group, he may say there isn't, but at Grrad a couple might be stragglers and you could invite them along.

JLmom, we are flyin into O'Hae also on the 4th, get in about 11am, renting a car as we have to head back to the airport at 5pm to p/up SR's girlfriend. What time are u getting in?

Just an FYI...your Sailors will be in dress whites the day of PIR...no changing out of them while in public (in the hotel room they can wear civies-but even in the pool it is Navy swimwear) so bring a towel for them to sit on when you go places. Be careful at Six Flags...and wait on spaghetti dinners (we did go to Giordano's for pizza though!). After PIR they will be in their NSU's the "peanut butters", Khaki blouse and black pants.

clarkedu, I can't wait to pamper my SR either. I just hope he's up to it. lol  While he's with us he'll get his choice of everything, we built time into the trip before and after we see him to do the things we want just in case. My other son is so looking forward to Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza but I get the feeliing we may be having Chinese - so, as always, I will make sure everyone is happy - that's my job.

I read a mom's post where she said she thought her new "sailor" would want to just chill and relax and be on the laptop and such after bootcamp...but he didn't. He wanted to go out and have fun and do things, not sit around. So it could go either way!
