BG:  In the beginning of bootcamp, they are usually only allowed to write on Sundays.  But eventually, they are allowed to write more often if all are doing well.  My son's letters all seemed to arrive on Thurs so I assume he only wrote on Sundays when there.  Probably his choice since he is not much of a letter writer! Now....now--give him email or texting, and I would have been in constant contact with him! :-)

More on the sickness...very few of them actually get "asmoed" (setback) for illness.  They really work with them when they are sick and try not to have them setback.  Like I said, most all get sick in some way, but they get over it normally.  They have ZPaks (?) that they can get to.

Good for you CorysNavyMom! I am still debating on what to wear. I'm determined to take only a carryon though. Comfy shoes yes! Good info about A school We have ordered a black bag from Sportmans guide but is on backorder and don't know if it will get here in time.

I feel like its been 8 weeks already. Time is dragging! My mom and i spent several hours yesterday shopping for clothes for our weekend with my son at PIR. I've got my grad outfit now and my outfit to wear for doing Chicago the next day. Today I'm going to go look for my husbands PIR outfit. He's jeans and t-shirt all other days so thats easy LOL. I need white tennis shoes too. Im NOT doing dress shoes for PIR and walking all over hells half acre in them. Choose my outfit based on wearing comfy shoes LOL.

Also, was on the Great Lakes A-school page today and read up on some things the new sailors might like to take to A school with them. A watch with military time, an alarm and water resistant. A LED flashlight with a red lense (they have to have red on it when outside). An electric razor. A kindle (that's a great idea. My son loves to read.) and I have already gotten his black backpack (but kept the receipt just incase...its from Target and is the Swiss Army one so we may have to pop the red button that has the cross on it off OR it might need to be returned...so kept receipt inside the bag just incase. Also got him a tide togo pen. Also listed was a Leatherman.

I'm also packing for a move. We are moving about 30 miles from here the weekend after PIR so really I need to get it all done BEFORE PIR. Trying to get everything done with four kids still at home (not to mention one of them is a 11 month old) isnt easy LOL. BUT it should help time fly. Actually, I dont know about anyone else but I dont enjoy weekends. Especially Sundays. No mail on Sunday LOL. And weekends drag.

Im just rambling now. Need to get my butt in gear. Have a great Sunday everyone. I HOPE some might get phone calls this afternoon/evening!

I'm here but just been creeping around reading everyone's post. :.) I will have to go look at the video. Trying to stay positive with the fact that my son must be better since I haven't gotten a phone call. :.) Almost 24 days and counting. :.)

found a video on the home page that shows just what they are doing in boot camp which really help me understand what they are going through and what it is all about in boot camp. This is the first time one of mine (5 kids) have left Az. so it's realllly hard being separated from SR this long. It's so nice to have these different discussion boards where you can hear what other families are doing to get through these long 8 weeks.

I have had to create things to do with my weekends to keep from going down a negative path. :-)

CorysNavyMom, it sure looks like a lull here from what I see, too.  I guess others are lucky to have other things to do with their weekends. lol  I'm jealous!!  Yes, 25 days is soooo close (and yet so far) I can hardly stand it!!!
