N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

lovemyson:  Although they stream the PIR service in the Chapel on base, it is not a guarantee that extras will get in there, so if your son wants to try, be sure there is return transportation in place for him if he is denied entry for any reason.  RTC Family Guide asks that extras stay off base and meet up with sailors/guests on the list later.  But it is up to you what you want to do!  Some may think that if they go on base as an extra, they just may get into PIR Hall.  That will NOT happen.....we understand that those allowed in the Chapel are escorted there and then back to the Visitors Center on base when it is over.

lawlady 1963, today is also the first Thursday I didn't get mail from my son. I was so disappointed. However, I did speak with him on this past Saturday. I too am hoping the mail is delayed and will receive a letter on tomorrow. I do know there was some test today and by the schedule, it was picture day. So I will keep my energy positive and believe all is still well with Division 273. Be blessed!

Thank you, everybody, and I will try to focus on the positive things, like mail delay and hell week.  LOL--that sounds funny to me.  Its just the first time I didn't get a letter from him.  And thanks for the info on hell week, I had been wondering all about that as well.  Again, thanks, ya'll.

oh, one more question I have is....my son is coming with us to the graduation but because he is not on the list should he go with us to the graduation and will they have him sit and watch the graduation in a separate area? He is 17 years old and he would be by himself if he did do that, He doesn't mind but I'm just wondering if that is a definite thing or should he just stay at the hotel and watch it? Thank you!

Hello everyone! I have a question about ribbons and decorating their door at Navy Lodge. when I first got on this sight I remember reading post about that. are we supposed to make ribbons and decorate their door at the hotel?

Lawlady 1963-not to worry, I received letters last Thursday and ended up getting another one in the mail on Saturday. so it may just be a delay in mail process.  Blessings!

AmyL,

Hell Week is when the SRs go through alot of intense training and testing.  They are also working to pull together as a team and earn Reward flags to proudly carry in the front of their division at PIR.  Their main communication will be there weekly letters to you-- but still keep your phones ready in case they earn a reward call or have a security info call~~

Hello! I received a letter from my son, division 269. He sounds really good. He did mention that it could be another 2 weeks before he can call. He wrote his letter on Sunday, July 19th. This is only our second letter from him since he left to boot camp. In the beginning, he was not up for writing home as he had a rough start.

hello everyone!   Does anyone know anything about "Hell Week"?  What exactly they go thru?
