OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Kate:  Recently someone told me that when her hubby was in Chicago on business, he had dinner with their daughter who is in A School in GL.  She said they ate at the restaurant below and it was really good.  They apparently specialize in steaks.  Here's the link:

Gurnee is only 4-5 miles from RTC....

Received three letters from my baby girl today. So happy said she had to beg the doctor's to realease jer back to full duty inly to gind out she would have her wisdom teeth pulled the next day and be back in bed rest. Told me to bring her underwear when we come to visit. Too funny says she can't wait to see her family at graduation. One proud momma today.

So excited! We got a letter today!!! He was so sweet, in the letter. He says he misses us! Had his wisdom teeth removed:-( we did not think he would need to have that done. I am just soooooo thankful he sent a letter. I am very much missing my son. Tears in my eyes as soon as I saw the letter, could hardly read it :-). He said he has lost weight, toned his abs and misses fishing!!! Cannot wait to see him!!! Any recommendations for a celebration meal when we get him after graduation? He loves steak. Thank you!!!
