~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello All!

thank you diannep for all the information!!! Much appreciated!
Hi group.. ok I'm freaking out !!!! I have reservations at the Navy Lodge, address 2500 Meridian Dr. Great Lakes, IL 60088.. this is the address right ??? the Navy Lodge is NOT located on base right ?? Dont know why I just thought about this... but I read some where there's one Navy Lodge on base and one off base.. they wouldnt allow me to make reservations for the one on base (if there's one) right ?? I hope this is just a part of the last minutes panics... can someone confirm I'm ok here and not going crazy !!! thanks
Diane: Should clarify that Enterprise is the one who comes to get you/takes you back. Not sure if ACE does this.
Diane, Residence Inn is 1.5 miles from Sundance where the MeetandGreet is. However, Springhill Suites is very close to it, probably within walking distance. Too far from Residence. However, Sarge may pick you up from Residence. He does that from some of the hotels.
Diane: I agree with CatMom. With weekend Liberty with your sailor, I think you will need a car. Did you check rates with ACE? Check Enterprise too. They will come get you wherever you are and take you back when you return the car. Ace is one that RTC recommends. Sundance Saloon (where Sarge's MeetandGreet is) is not really just across the street from Residence, but it is close by.
Is there a reason you don't want to drive from the airport? It really is a pretty easy drive. We did it. All interstate. Although, we have been told if you want to avoid tolls, you go on 41. We just paid the tolls when we were there.
Good Morning All !
Diane,
How blessed you are to have your SR staying at Great Lakes for A school because you will have plenty of liberty time with him! You will get a few moments with him right after PIR, then he will have to go to his barracks to transfer all his stuff to the A school side, which takes a few hours. You will need to come back about 3 pm or so to watch his division march to the gate, then he can leave with you and needs to be back that evening about 9:00 pm. Then you will have all of Saturday and Sunday to be with him. He cannot stay at the hotel with you, but must return to RTC each evening. It would be best if you had a rental car because you have so much time and can go to more places. You can go into Chicago using the train station right next to RTC.

PROUDOFDANIEL: Sarge's is close to that hotel. Here is the link to his MeetandGreet page where you can RSVP!
