diannep-why can't battlestation dates be posted?  It makes no sense to me.  It is not opsec...they are in bootcamp.

Let's hope that the flights are FULL on the 2nd and they get some weekend time with you before flying out later!  It happened for some in the Memorial Day weekend group!  So you never know!

I copy and paste the note below

~"After scrolling through all the good nights and good mornings we found a question concerning what day Sailors fly out to A School after the graduation on Thursday, September 1. For Sailors graduationg on Sept. 1 who are flying to A School, we will try and fly them all out on Friday, Sept. 2. "

I have moved this from the "Headed for SWCC" group to this page.
Ladies, I know many of you are in the 9/1 PIR, but as happy as I am that my SR is completing Basic, my anxiety and concern is starting to increase with the intense SWCC training that is coming fast and furious.  This is critical on so many levels. If he makes it thru, then he is in a very dangerous position, but hopefully realized a dream.  If he doesn't (3/4 don't) then he is still in the NAVY and relegated to a job according to "Naval needs", maybe safer, but not where he wanted to be...but his dream isn't realized. It's hard for me to think about the son I have protected, developed and loved to be going thru the brutal training. I know and understand he wanted the challenge of it all, but it's really hard for me to think about, it makes my heart hurt.  I can't watch the training films.  I don't want to bring anybody down who reads this, I just am concerned, especially after SEAL helo going down.Something went terribly wrong...set-up, cover up, bad intell... these fine men are gone and shouldn't be. Read online  "Veteran's Today- SEeal Team Six unfolding" it will curl your hair! Thanks for the support, looking forward to meeting at the PIR.

Just wanted to also say thanks for all the information.  My son's last letter sounded so positive that it gave me tears - I'll be a basket case by graduation!  He was so proud of their division flag and he got a ribbon for shooting.  He never handled a gun before but I guess all those years of playing virtual shooting games finally paid off - and to think I complained about them...lol  I'm really nervous about the gas mask test - I'll be glad to hear thats over with.  I'm keeping my blue candle lit from now until we leave for GL. On the downside, my boyfriend just found out he has a hernia and needs surgery.  We are scrambling to find a surgeon to get it scheduled and over with next week.  My SR told me in his first letter he had a dream about graduation and we were both there.  I pray we don't have to disappoint him.  I'll be there either way, but I know he wants him there too.

Please don't stress about getting your SR to answer all your questions! You'll be able to talk to him when he calls to tell you "he's a Sailor". You'll have about an hour...unless he has to call other people. (i.e., mine had to call her Dad, boyfriend, so when she called, she was real quick and said "Mom, we have business to cover). I was like okay than...it was all about what she wanted me to bring up to her! We did go over to where she will be standing...

You can bring up personal items and they can be handed off to them if they are staying up at the GL for A school. They can only take it back on base in a black bag. She bought a black duffel bag after graduation at the NEX and we took it back to our hotel room, put her computer in it, blow dryer, straightener...clothes...contacts...as far as wearing the clothes, she has to wait a certain period of time to be able to wear the out in public...I think it's two weeks....

Anyway...enough of that. If anyone wants to know more about that type of thing message me privately. I can always ask her if I don't know your question.

Thanks Toweermom, all the ribbons for this PIR group that have been paid for and have not already been shipped are going to the post office tomorrow morning. You should all have them in a few days. I have a few who I am waiting on checks or paypal payments to arrive and still receiving orders for others in this group since it is NOT too late to order them. Thanks so much for spreading the word and let me know what you think of your ribbons when they arrive.

Thank you everyone for the information that I have read here today. I wasn't aware that we should discuss where we will meet our sailors. That definitely makes sense. Thanks also for the information on the rain gear because of no cover.  I will write him tonight and start planning. Also would love to know the date of Battlestation 21 for this group if anyone knows. I have my blue candle all ready.I am starting to really get excited as are his Dad and sisters. My son isn't much of a letter writer but I will be asking LOTS of questions tonight when I sit down and tell him to just write the answers on my letter and return. Maybe that way I will find out ALL that I need to know. :-) Haven't received any more phone calls. Hoping for a letter tomorrow. Prayers to all the recruits that have PIR on 9/1/11 for a successful completion.
