While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by BreeBree31 on July 29, 2011 at 8:21am: Morning, when I talked with my son on yesterday, he told me the was up straight for the first 72 hrs. My son is a jokester and inspires to be a comedian so believe me, if they befriended him, he has them laughing. When I talked to him yesterday, although he said he hates the place because the RDC keeps yelling, he was very upbeat and laughing. My son is not prone to sickness either so I just continue to hope and pray for him and all others.

I was wondering the same thing, its only 2 of us on here from ship 11 div 283...is there anyone else????

Anyways, I am praying for all other that you receive the comfort you need via the phones from you NAVY SR's and/or letters. Have a great day ALL ! ! !

Comment by Kimberly P on July 29, 2011 at 8:08am: ShelMaq - my son told me 3 in his unit had pink eye and one has been to the hospital in town to try and get well. I don't know what it is because he was hardly ever ill, but he has been sick for 8 days. So sorry you missed your call. I too wondered where all the 283 people were.

I think it may be stress and less sleep than normal and their immune systems are down plus being in this group where illness can spread quickly. Sadly though~ I missed his call and so did his mom :-( I could just tell from the 2 messages I got, he told me he has been sick for 10 days, plus I got a letter the other day that said he also had had pink eye in both eyes :-(

Total change of subject~ is anyone else's SR in Ship 11 Div 283? we only have 2 people in the group I found and other than brejones who started it, I am the only person that has commented.

Comment by magnoliagirl1963 on July 29, 2011 at 2:45am: hi sleep girl..my son is ship 11/284 and I didn't get a call, but 2 of the other moms in our group did....maybe tomorrow will be our day. the moms that did get calls said the boys said their group is doing good and they won a flag today. not sure what that means, but it sounds good. we have a discussion group for our ship 11 div 284...i'll try to cut and paste the link...

He left 7/11 and has sent everything to his mom; box of goodies as well as the letter to form. I talk to her everyday and she too has not received one piece of mail from him. Boy is this tough :/

Comment by kresgeball Div 291 PIR 9/9/11 on July 28, 2011 at 11:36pm: Got a breif message from my son.....he has been switched to division 291 and rolled back a week so now he is graduating 9/8. We have no idea what happened and I have a billion scenerios running threw my head! It was so nice meeting you all....but it looks like I will be joining a different group. =(
