On my SR's contract, it says he gets 72 hours for liberty after PIR. Since his PIR is 9/1. When would he leave?

Most of them will get 10 days leave after the graduate from A-school and if they come home they can work with their recruiter for 5 of the 10 days and only use 5 day of leave by doing so. The have to get the paperwork filled out while in A-school and get it signed off by the recruiter and take it to their next place whether it be C-school or their first duty station.

If anyone has a recruit who will be an AO, Aviation Ordnanceman, let me know. That is what my daugher is so I am a lot more familiar with that rate than i am the others.

Yes, I believe that Sparkeys is correct.  It used to be that they didn't move the GL sailors over there right away...so they had liberty with all others who stayed at RTC.  But then they decided to move them over to A School right away, but to continue to have their liberty.  Not the same at the other A Schools...although....remember....they are flying, so they are kind of on their own.  In my son's case, there were delays out of Ohare with his flight and they missed their connection in Atlanta.  Delta put them up in a hotel overnight...uh oh...a bunch of them on their way to Meridian MS.  So they actually were on their own there in Atlanta.  I do believe that one in the group was assigned as the "leader" so it wasn't like all hell broke loose...I think they were good!

In one of the PIR groups, they ordered a birthday cake and had it at the MeetNGreet the night before PIR to celebrate and in honor of all of the birthdays that happened when their SRs were in bc.  Of course, the sailors weren't there, but they said it was nice to celebrate that with the other ladies who had also missed birthdays with their SRs.  Just a thought...

If driving from Chicago, allow extra time for traffic, etc. better to be in line at 6:30 than sitting in traffic worrying that you may be late. I have heard of it taking up to 2 or more hours if traffic is bad to get to GL.  One of the reasons to allow extra time when driving, better to be way early than be rushed.

Definitely get there early to get good seats.  I arrived at 7:10 and there were already tons of people there.

They will have signs up showing where your division will stand and sometimes they are off a tad bit, this will be a big group but there is a great deal of seating.

Our story is the same as Betsy's--also from Residence.  Would do it the same way again!  "Early bird gets the worm", you know?  :-)
