Remember....calls from the last three divisions who did BattleStations last night (we think!) won't call until around 2pm GL time and many times, later than that.

Jennifer:  They are usually allowed to have cells, laptops, ipods, and just a few items of clothing (they can't wear these until they "phase up" in A School but can lock them up).  All delivered to them when off of RTC (at airport or after GL A School students return from liberty).  Many request underwear...most are not fans of the whitie tighties at bc!  So they can wear these right away at A School.  But outerwear, they can't.

So, I repacked his LARGE box into a manageable small carry-on type suitcase.  (SIGH) I have to admit that I paused to smell his clothes ~ I miss my only child!  I have been rather stoic up to this point :)  I think it just hit me that he will be overseas for the next 4 years (or more if he re-ups like he wants to!).

Jennifer,

My son will also be at GL for A school. He is currently div 288. Still no call about BattleStations. I am just bringing his stuff to PIR and whatever he can't keep we will just bring home.

QUESTION ABOUT A-SCHOOL at GL:  What will my SR be allowed to have with him (laptop?  cell phone?  clothing?).  My son asked me to bring him a box that he had packed before he left.  I highly doubt that hauling it will matter since it is 90% full of clothing and 10% full of electronics...  BUT, to save shipping some of it to him later, I thought I'd ask.

I hope all the moms of 278/288/943 get their calls today!

Thanks Dianne I am going to plan to go to the airport.

Jennifer 70s sounds chilly! We have been in the high 80s, wow 100s for you? Bring a sweater.

Comment by diannep on September 5, 2012 at 8:14am

rmcurtiss:  You get the airlines gate pass from your sailor's airline....with proper ID.

Comment by diannep on September 5, 2012 at 8:12am

Jennifer:  Not all can make the I'm a Sailor" calls right away. Some have watch...but hope you do hear from your sailor!  Be sure to be checking FB too as many get on the computers and their FBs before getting to the phones.

Comment by diannep on September 5, 2012 at 8:11am

Hoping to hear from 943/278/288 today?  We think those are the ones making the I'm a sailor calls.  This afternoon!  Hopefully....they should be finishing up right now.
