Hi LalaRQ~ I just put my order in for my ribbon. I hope I gave you enough time to do it as I leave on 09/04 (we're taking the train). Anyhow, I can't wait to see it!

I actually hadn't heard of them before we got to PIR and when I saw one of the Sailors go down and dragged into a room to the back it was scary. I was so glad he was okay :-)

bethr:  To add to what Angie said, my son told me that they are told ahead of time not to be jerks (they used a stronger word than that!)...." if you see one of your shipmates is about to fall, catch him/her!"  It is quite scary to see them go down, but it most all cases, they are ok and as Angie said, taken behind the scenes to recover.

Congrats Lala! Can you explain "bodysnatchers," please? Thanks!

Hi everyone, yes I am back lol. I will be in and out a lot. We were pretty busy all day and tomorrow we are having a going away party for our daughter. We will be taking her to UNC Wilmington next weekend. We are actually planning to have dinner in the Wrightsville Beach area On Saturday (8/18) with some other navy Moms that I have met on here and of course their husbands/families as well. So if anyone lives in that area that would like to join us please let me know.

My daughter was in the choir during bootcamp. It was AMAZING to hear her singing for all those people. I can't even explain the way it makes you feel :-) There are actually several different performing divisions that all rotate. One PIR date will have the band, choir and drill team and they are known as the triple Threat. The PIR performing division graduating the next week may be the Flag Corps and the week after that would be the Sailors who are the behind the scene workers and the side boys, and body snatchers. There are usually 3 performing divisions from 3 different PIR's all working together to put on the amazing show at PIR. So if your soon to be Sailor is in the band, choir, flag, drill, side boy etc you may be able to get a pic of them performing. They normally perform at the 2 PIR's before their on and perform at their own as well. You can join the two PIR groups before your own and ask them if they could please take a few pics and come back and post them. Let them know where your recruit will be, like choir, band, drill, state flags etc and that will make it easier for them. I was able to get a pic of my Sailor by doing that :-) And then you can do the same for the PIR performing divisions who have PIR the two weeks after yours. Let me know when you find out what your recruit will be doing during the performance. If you have any questions at all please let me know. I am happy to help. Here is a pic of my Sailor singing with the choir. She is the blonde to the right of the mic standing next to the guys..
