Thank you so much FTLW for posting all of the helpful advice! However, the what to wear mainly consists of telling you to dress warm,,,I would assume this does not apply to us. Any helpful info an dressing for a summer PIR? I have no clue what to wear. I am not a dress person. I was thinking a skirt, but then it may be hard to get away with comfy shoes...advice much appreciated :) Thanks everyone!!
Sarge has a meet and greet on Thurs night right? Looking forward to it!!! Booked Comfort Inn, which has shuttle to the base. Which is closer to fly into Milwaukee or O'Hare? Killing me it's costeing about $350 each for round trip for 2 days. Then car... Ugh!!! But counting down the days. :)
I second ellen's comments about Sarge! He is a godsend to so many!
Have said it before but will post again. Don't forget to check Southwest Airlines....they are running "special" one-way fares right now, I believe... they have no change fee and first 2 bags check for free. They fly into Milwaukee (45 minutes from GL, no traffic) and Chicago-Midway.
Good morning all!
em'smom, We had no problem driving in and out of RTC, we did have a small TG though so that does make a difference.
Do call Sarge for a taxi if that is what you want to do, his phone will not accept blocked numbers so if yours is blocked unblock it first. Here is Sarges phone number 847-212-0246, he is a great guy. My son and his buddies on base call him all the time for their transportation.
Ellen~ Thank you so much for the info. I had planned on renting a car, but wanted to shuttle to and from PIR..
em's mom: I am answering your question about a shuttle from the Navy Lodge to PIR that you posted in the boot camp forums.
No there is not a shuttle from the Navy Lodge, unless something has changed since Feb. If you are needing transportation call Sarge for his taxi service and excellent way to get around if you aren't renting a car.
I would recommend renting a car though, as your taxi rides everywhere will add up pretty quickly money wise.
you are off to a good start em'mom, now just use that wait time to write lots and lots of letters :-)
Got the box! Got the letter! Good to go! Now I just...wait :)
Here is a post from another PIR group that may help you guys as well....

Good morning! I wanted to let everyone know that I found some cheap flights on Frontier Airlines. The flights are as low as $68 one way! That is so cheap. I've only checked on flights out of Denver, but looks like they might be running another sale. Just wanted to pass along the info.
That is so sad Diannep, I will definitely keep them in my prayers. FTLW, I remember that as well. It was such a heartbreaking picture.
