Momof5, I know this is super hard for you. And I can bet you would like to choke him right now :-) I guess this is all a part of the growing up and learning process. hopefully he has learned his lesson well. The financial part is very hard for many families. Especially if they purchased airline tickets. I agree you all will look back and laugh at this years from now but definitely not right now. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. This happened to a girl in my daughters DIV when she was there and the boy man and the female both got set back two weeks and were no longer in the same division. That was two years ago and they just got married about a month ago lol. So they definitely have a great story for their kids and grandkids in the future :-)

em'smom, that is not normal. There are some people who are starting facebook groups who DO NOT have a recruit at bootcamp and may not have a Sailor at all. We are unsure what their agenda is for doing this. I would cancel your request to join that group. I have been here for two years and on facebook for much longer than that and I have never heard of having to join one group in order to join another. Please be very careful. You never know who is looking for information that could harm your Sailor at some point in the future. What facebook group was it? And which PIR group do you have to join? We may need to report this. Diannep or FTLW may have more info on this but it worries me for sure.

I've been addressing all of his letters in capitals and with lines through the zeros. I figured it would surely make it to his address that way. Does it matter if the address is in capitals?

Sharbear~ Sorry your son had to wait so long! My daughter must have been one of the last ones to fill his division.

Momof5~ so sorry to hear about that. If you dont mind, Im going to print it out (no names or anything) and send to my daughter, so she knows better. Please let me know if thats ok...

Hi everyone! Ship 09/ Div 288 :) I tried to log on to the FB page, that I got from here) but it says locked group and unless you join PIR group here, which I did, I won't be able to see posts (on FB)...anyhow is this normal? I heard from somewhere on here not to join any locked groups??

Hello,  I am a Mom from the PIR 8/24 group.  My SR got into trouble for passing notes to females recruits, so he has been punished with a two week delay- so now I am going to be with your group.  I know someday I will look back and laugh, but today I am devastated and disappointed in him.  It will cause a lot of stress for our family to make this change, both financially as well as personally.  My son was upset when he called, and could not talk for long- just to tell me he was in trouble and his date had changed.  Hard to hear him upset and not be able to do anything.  I understand he did this to himself- but it is still hard on Mom.  So now I will wait for his new ship and div.  It is like starting all over again.

I have a nephew in ship 09 div 283. I am planning on going up for graduation. I also have a son that ships out jan 3 2013. Does anyone know if we should go ahead and buy airline tickets for graduation 9/7/12

On this day, July 23rd, 2010 my Sailor graduated from boot camp. I cannot believe it has been two years. It is amazing how fast time slips through your hands once they leave the nest. I am so very proud of her and all her accomplishments. She is an amazing young woman and the US Navy is so lucky to have her as part of their fleet.
