~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!  Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey.  Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school,  ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the Christian Chat that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR.  If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~

Congrats to 285/286/944....Sailors!

Comment by diannep on September 9, 2014 at 6:52pm

Michelle:  The amount of time they get at Christmas is determined by their A School based,  They are allowed to "go into the hole" with their accrued days to do it---meaning that they will owe days back to their "pool" of Leave days, but that's ok.  They accrue 2.5 days a month.  The A School bases go on a kind of Shut Down during the holidays, but not all students will leave.  They must route a chit at their A School base for Christmas Leave time.  This will all be explained to them when they arrive.  I think it is maybe a week or less that they can take....they can't all go at the same time, so some will make Christmas but miss New Years, and others just the opposite.
