~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Very quiet group again so far this weekend. Does anyone have any questions about PIR, A School, Bootcamp, etc? Remember, please post questions here and not just in the discussions groups above. We N4Moms veterans have a hard time getting to all of those discussion groups on a daily basis since we are on 7-8 PIR groups at a time. But we are on here daily on the PIR pages and ready to be of help! So ask anything you like....we never mind answering even the same questions that may have been asked before. We want you all to have as much info as you can to make your experience even more enjoyable!
Good Morning!
Good morning everyone. I know you all are super excited about receiving your first call or letter. I am sure it won't be long now. If your SR misses a call when you see others from the same division getting calls try not to worry. It is most likely because they had a watch or duty or was at dental or SIQ from dental work. They usually but not always will get to make up the call. There have also been some recruits who have given up a call that another recruit with a wife and small children at home can have his time especially if it was a call earned for doing something very well. The young men and women who do this amaze me and are sure to make fine Sailors :)
Hello All!
"My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
the humble shall hear of it and be glad."
Psalm 34:2
My grandson is in Division 349 ship 12. Would like to talk to some of his ship mate moms/grandmothers also.
Good Morning. Hope all have a good weekend....with maybe some calls coming in!
Good morning everyone, I hope you all are doing well and I hope you are writing lots of letters to your recruits. The highlight of their day is mail call. They get your letters and go to their rack to read them. The letters give them the encouragement to get through the next day. And just when they feel like it is too hard and they may not make it they have another mail call and more letters from you :) So keep that pen flowing. It is also a great idea to write and extra letter of encouragement and put it in with your letter. Just ask your recruit to give it to a shipmate who is not receiving any mail. It is so sad that there are many who never get mail. Have a great weekend :)
Each ship has a recruit who is placed in charge of different "jobs" One may be in charge of making sure everyone is where they are when they are supposed to be there, another may be in charge of reporting to the RDC everything that went on during the night while the RDC was at home sleeping. The RDC's usually give those types of jobs to recruits who are doing well and they see a lot of promise in. They may be made a RCPO (Recruit Chief Petty Officer) pronounced RPOC. It is a lot of responsibility and some would rather not have that job lol. Jobs do get changed a lot and the titles are for boot camp duration only. Sometimes they get "fired" from the job not because they weren't doing a bad job but just so the RDC can see what another recruit is able to handle in a leadership role :)
for those who have a recruit in the 944 division here is some info that may help you :)
Performing divisions info:
There are actually three different performing divisions that rotate. One is a working group called ships staff and they work behind the scenes with VIP's and as greeters, side boys and body snatchers. Side boys for a Receiving line for the VIP's to enter through at the start of the ceremony. Body snatchers walk up and down the isles of sailors and make eye contact and even speak to the sailors to make sure they are not about to pass out. They often lock their knees because they have to stand in one spot for such a long time. If they lock their knees it can cut off the blood flow and cause them to faint. Of course the sailor behind them does their best to catch them :) Another part of the performing divisions is the flag corp and they carry and perform with the 50 state flags during the ceremony. The third part is known as The Triple Threat. The Triple Threat is made up of the band, drill team and choir and they all perform throughout the ceremony. It is so amazing how they can pull this all off in such a short time and still accomplish all that is to be done during boot camp. They are either chosen for this division or they can volunteer for it. If they have band, flagcorps, drill team, choir, or marching experience they can volunteer. They can also be handpicked or volunteer if they have high ASVAB scores. They don't expect them to need as much time to study which gives a lot more time for practice :) Once they are in the performing DIV they may be able to try out to be a part of the Triple Threat and be in the band, choir, or drill team. I hope this helps you all understand what your recruits are doing.
