OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Kory&Joshuasmom- yes, I am on that PIR FB page. I did see that. I tried to get my son to study before he left, but no luck :/ Hopefully they learn it quickly. Are you going to Sarge's meet and greet?

Can someone tell me how to find my group on FB?  Thank you :)

Doodlebug22- my son is in ship 13 Div 313 as well!! Are you on the FB group for PIR 9/18 also?  There were posts about some of the kids in that division making calls home yesterday about security clearance stuff....some were able to sneak in a few details- such as their RDC telling them they would be rewarded with a call home soon as they passed their uniform, grooming & rate/rank recognition test.

Well dinnep he went in on the 23rd.  So this would of been his 2nd Sunday.  I hate getting my hopes up.  He never was a writer anyway but this may have changed him a bit.  I am printing question sheets for him to have fun with and my husband is printing some of the sports news.  I am sure he is having withdrawl from ESPN.  Oh how I miss to hear that all the time echoing throughout the house.  He never just watched it on one TV in one room we had to have it on in several rooms as he moved about.  I miss him.

Julyasmom,

If you're referring to the Core Value Challenge Coin I posted, that's actually the front and back of the same coin!  Yep, the rest of the coins are nifty too!!

tbird96,

IF your SR had the opportunity to write this last Sunday (and he/she did), and a Mail Petty Officer has been fully trained, and the letter was mailed on Monday, then many of you will receive mail on Wednesdays or Thursdays~~
