N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi everyone and good morning. I am having real issues with this website for some reason. I think it is a virus on my computer because when I come here I get bombarded with popups and them my computer freezes. I am traveling today to VA to go babysit for my new grand baby for the week. They are on a waiting list for daycare and she can't start until hopefully next week. It is killing my Sailor to have to leave her already. I can't believe 6 weeks maternity is already up. Luckily I can take my work with me so I am able to help them out so no worries there :) Every city has a post office right? lol And my son-in-law is an IT so he should be able to fix the issues on my computer :) I hope you all have a wonderful day and I hope it is a great week for calls and letters. Here is the reason I am traveling :)

Darlene - yes they must finish in less time than whatever the time is for their age group.  Believe me you aren't the only one a little stressed over this.  lol  Just pray you don't receive a call until after BattleStations.  If you don't hear from your SR assume they passed.  Truly as it's been said many times - 'no news is good news'.  Light your blue candle and send positive energy throughout the day (and prayers).  That's my plan for today :)

During the final PFA must the recruits pass the running exactly with the 12 1/2 minutes (I believe that's what it is ) or as long as they have improved they will pass them??? My son should be doing his final today.. If he doesn't pass will there be a call?? Sorry to keep asking questions just getting really nervous:-) hate not knowing!!

Now's a good time to order your Challenge Coin for your soon-to-be-Sailor if you were thinking of it!   www.pirgifts.com

Ladies,

If you hadn't had a chance to check out my "PERTINENT PIR TIPS" up in the Discussion Forum, you can do it now, since your PIR is next week!!!

Comment by diannep on September 8, 2013 at 11:20pm

MarGlenn:  The I'm a Sailor call is usually one of the longer ones.  My son's was actually an hour long (they can call as many as they want during that time), but others may have about 20 to 30 min, depending on how many are waiting to use the phones.  Sometimes they can call back later.  You may want to write a list of things to ask your new sailor besides what you should bring up to GL...because you will be so excited that you may forget what you wanted to ask!  :-)

Comment by MarGlenn(shp 14 div 352) on September 8, 2013 at 10:06pm

Help please. How long is the sailor phone call? Is it the I'm here call or a normal one? I did not get a letter this last week so have no idea what to take up for him.
