N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My goodness it is hard to believe how close you all are to PIR. YAY!!! I know you are getting excited about seeing your recruits :)

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend and have a holiday today :) I spent the weekend cleaning out all the kitchen cabinets and rearranging everything. My family hates when I do this lol.

Remember today is a holiday so letter this week will probably arrive a day late :(

Good Morning and Happy Labor Day!

Ladies, this PIR group will be starting BattleStations (their final test) next week.  If you receive a date for your SR's division, please post on here that you have a date for Division ____ and let others friend request you for it.  We are not allowed to post BattleStations dates on here or FB (RTC request....they want you to practice OPSEC and pretend that this drill is on a deployed ship). You ARE allowed to private message the date here and on FB.  Also, please friend request the info to me.  I have been keeping schedules for BattleStations since early 2010...I will post dates in the BattleStations discussion "after conclusion" just so there is a record of them.

Not sure how long it would take him to move.  It is unusual for them to hold many on RTC....most fly out the day after PIR...usually they "hold" at their A Schools.  But sometimes, there is a "crunch" problem at the A School they are going to and it may be necessary to hold at RTC.

This is what RTC says in their "Family FAQS" on the RTC site:

"

How much weekend liberty will my recruit receive?
A.

Recruits staying in Great Lakes for their A School will check into their new command immediately after graduation. That check-in process can take up to five hours. You may wait at the Mainside Visitors center. The Great Lakes A Schools are NOT located onboard Recruit Training Command. Your recruit will be able to contact you when they have completed the check-in process. They will receive guidance regarding their exact liberty hours upon checking into their A school.

If your recruit will be attending A School out of state, they will fly out the day following graduation. There may be a delay if there is a flight availability issue but only your recruits is permitted to give you their exact flight/departure information. Their graduation daytime liberty hours will be determined by their Recruit Division Commander (RDC) prior to commencing liberty. Please ensure your recruit returns to RTC with adequate time for their arrival to the barracks prior to expiration of liberty."

Thank you diannep One more question - will it take a few hours for him to move from Ship 3 to Ship 5?  (that is where he will move to until he flies out correct?)

Comment by diannep on September 1, 2013 at 8:06pm

TX Trina:  If he is held at RTC, yes, he will get Daytime Liberty through the weekend.

Comment by TX Trina on September 1, 2013 at 6:52pm

I have a question - my SR was told he would be on hold at GL for a week before going to A school.  Will he get Saturday and Sunday Liberty?

Comment by tibbittsb on September 1, 2013 at 5:27pm

I am here and getting so excited that we are less than three weeks from PIR.  Although my son goes to Aircrew Candidate School in Pensacola right after PIR.... those few hours that I get to spend with him will be precious.
