N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The "form" letter, which will contain info written in by your SR (Seaman Recruit), can take from a few days up to 2 weeks or more to arrive.  So try and be patient!

In the meantime, know that any mail sent to them (via an address you received from your recruiter) is held from them for 2 weeks or so, until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained.  They will receive all of this mail at once, usually on a Sunday, and can write for the first time then.  Mailout days for them are Mondays.  After that first mail delivery, they will receive mail M-F.

Be sure to check the recruiter's address with your form letter address.  The recruiters get the address from the computer, and sometimes they change.  Your form letter address (written in by your SR) should be the correct one.  Even if you mail letters to the wrong address, as long as the division number is correct (usually is), your SR will get that mail....just may take longer!

pandabugz:  We have to wait for RTC to post the division numbers for this PIR group.  Lately, it has been taking them a while to get them posted.  We are still waiting for the division post for the 09/13 group.  So it possibly will be another week or so before we know how many are in this PIR group.  If 12 divisions or less-- you will be allowed 4 guests per sailor; 13 divisions or more, only 3.  So I'm sure you all are hoping for the 12 divisions or less decision!

Good Morning, All.  I'm the "oldie goldie" here from the N4Moms veteran team....probably both in age :-) and in how long ago my son was in bootcamp.  He was up there in 2009.  I have been helping on these PIR groups since early 2010.  Love doing it!  My son has now been honorably discharged from the Navy, but go figure, I remain on this site!  Can't seem to pull myself away!  :-)

Please check the "PAGES" info above and to the right on this page.  Under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX.  Lots of info there for you.  More will be added as we go along.

Welcome to the emotionally wild Bootcamp ride!  Ask any questions here....we are here to help!

Good Morning!

@mytwosons, one of our oldest (yes twins) is also in Div 14, Ship 352.  Originally thought graduation would be 9/13, so 9/20 now seems like an eternity.  4 guest were listed on our form letter, but it looks like we won't "officially" know for a few more days.

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was just this March 2013.  She is just about studying IT (Information Technician) at her A school at Corrry Station in Pensacola, Florida. She graduates on August 6th and I will get to see her on leave soon!!  I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a couple of the other groups that I am a member of.  I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~  This site really made the time go much faster.  I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!!  Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!

Thank you, @fireteamleaderwife, but the letter I received today didn't have that information on it.

It's going to take a little while longer to find out how many divisions in this TG. (Training Group).

Most likely, it isn't even finished being formed yet.

RTC should post the official details for this TG on their website sometime in the beginning next week (if we're lucky :-)).

HOWEVER, someone that has already received their Form Letter should have the number of Guests allowed on it...so do tell! LOL

Does anyone have a clue to how many divisions 9/20 has? We want to bring our SR's little sister with us, so we're hoping they allow 4 guest.

Hello!

Another "Veteran" Mom checking in!

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 28 + years…I know …not Navy…but I am somewhat familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly. I have been on them now for over a year and we have 7-8 PIR groups running at the same time.

Hoping I get our letter by the time I get home on Thursday. This business trip is making me miss him more. We were told he would graduate on 9/13 by his recruiter but I think it's going to be 9/20 because I see many familiar faces on this board.
