N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Expecting I'm a Sailor calls today from 363/364!  Keep phones close this afternoon!

Shamay:  Sounds like great news!  And...who knows?  Maybe the dr will be thrilled with his recovery and cancel the surgery?  Although if they are worried about stability issues with his knee, they will do the surgery.

Good Morning All !

Congrats to 361/362!

smurfette:  My guess is that he is flying out Saurday (possibly Sunday) and will be "held" at his A School until he classes up.  That is usually what happens.  My son was on hold at Meridian for about 10 days after he arrived.

Comment by diannep on September 19, 2013 at 9:27pm

My son went to Meridian (a long time ago!) and left on Sat. after PIR.  They normally leave the day after unless there are problems getting flights. Stay until Sunday just in case!

Hmmm....seems a long time for some of the sailors to stay at RTC (ones leaving 10/6).  But I know sometimes it happens that they are there for a few days after PIR until their A School has room for them.  They won't know actual flight schedules until right before PIR.

The only thing that my SR said in his letter was that his school didn't start until 10/6, he didn't say when he was leaving.

shonuff1968, Recently there have been a few that have spent some "extra" time in GL after graduating. Some have said they have allowed them to have their phones, others have not. I don't know why, but it may be a "who's in charge" of them type thing.

All of the SAILORS (I love that word) have time after PIR until Friday evening, the ones staying in GL for A School just have a divided Friday.

Your SAILOR will be briefed on what his "rules" are for the weekend so by the time you see him after PIR he should know.

Actually now that I think about it he said he could leave anywhere from Thursday through Sunday which I thought was odd since PIR is Friday but I'm now wondering if he meant the following Thursday, I just read somewhere that some sailors aren't leaving until 10/6, if that's true I will be so sad as I cannot stay an entire week!!!

That would make me a extremly happy mom and his dad and little brother too. I don't get any good info so glad we all share the pieces to the puzzle.

Mine is going to be LS too and told me in his letter that I got yesterday that he got his orders and can leave up through Sunday and that he hopes I had planned on staying awhile, I guess up through Sunday still doesn't give an exact day but there is still hope we will have more than just a few hours with them.
