N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Michele:  The form letters can take anywhere from a few days up to 2 weeks or more to arrive.  Depends on if they are in a lower-numbered division or high-numbered and when they arrived at GL.  Also, they usually only send out one letter so if there is someone else who could have received it, check with that person.  The password in the letters is VERY IMPORTANT so don't lose the letter/password.  You will need this towards the end of Bootcamp to download your gate pass for PIR (if you plan to drive on base....you won't need it if you take a shuttle or park off base---but I feel it is a good idea to have it with you anyway).

Nope, not an idiotic question!  No question is idiotic!  :-)

As far as the time they post the divisions in this group, God only knows.  They USED to be good about posting towards the beginning of the week, after they had been there for a week or two.  But lately it seems to be taking longer.  ellen (creator of this PIR group) checks regularly and will post the divisions up top as soon as she gets them from RTC.  Fingers crossed that there are less than 13!  :-)

Pamelaship14div361 & Kimpsu89: That's so awesome!!

Diannep- When does RTC post the divisions? Sorry if that is a totally idiotic question :/

SoCalNavyMom:  Welcome!  Once RTC posts the divisions in this group, we will know the guest number.  Hope for 12 divisions or under since that will allow 4 guests each!

Mamaslick:  Yes, you definitely will want to visit your son in Pensacola sometime during the IL winter months!  :-)  It is beautiful there.

Just know that the mail is held from them for 2 weeks until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer who will handle the mail is trained.  Not sure if they received their first mail yesterday (the first mail is usually given to them on Sunday) or will be next Sunday.  Once they are given their first mail, they should receive mail M-F after that.

Happy Monday! My SR left from LA MEPS on July 31st. Still have not received a form letter or his box. I am hoping it will be this week, sometime.

Are all of you planning to attend PIR? We are, but I am anxious to see if my SR was able to put 3 or 4 guests down. My ex and I are both remarried and I would hate for him to have to choose between Step-Parents :(

Good Morning! My son is Ship 14 Div 362.  My son left for BC on 7/24. We received his letter last Friday and mailed all our letters this weekend. He will have A school in Pensacola.I am fortunate to live w/in 2 hours of Great Lakes.  I cannot wait for PIR.  I am thinking Pensacola will make a nice place to visit when the snow is blowing this winter
