N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

SRsailormom:  The PIR groups have been completing BattleStations by Wed morning of PIR week  (12 hr overnight drill) lately.  The only ones going through on Thurs night before PIR would be those who had not passed their PFAs and finally did right before PIR, and had to do BattleStations the night before PIR.

After graduation do our SRs get liberty off base? If so, for how long?

SRsailormoon, The only time a recruit who has PIR on Friday would go through BS the night before is if that recruit has just passed the PFA or failed BS with his/her division.

Push divisions still have BS (as a general rule) no later than the Wednesday before PIR.

Thanks guys for the info! I'm glad there is someone I can call. I was just kinda concerned because my SR is in a push DIV and I know will be one of the last to go to BS. How often does it happen where BS is done on a Thursday night to Friday morning? Is this something that happens during every PIR date?

SRsailrmom:  They usually are supposed to call you if they get to their division's BattleStations day and have not passed the PFA yet.  They still get chances though to pass up until right before PIR Day.  But, I know not all have received this call in the past.  I was told by someone at RTC that they are told to call home, but some elect not to.  However, RTC states that if you didn't hear from your SR confirming that they are sailors, you should not head to GL.  That rule is very hard for families as some don't finish BattleStations until Wed morning and many fly out that day.  However, if PFAs were failed, you should know before then.

And if they fail BattleStations (very few do), then they repeat it and pass.  So the BIG worry is passing the PFA....that is what can make them miss their PIR.

For those who head to GL without hearing from their SR/sailor, if you arrive and find they didn't pass their PFA (which you would find out at the gate when your sailor is not on the list---unless you have reached the PAO before then)....they will no longer let you see your SR for a couple of hours, as they have done in the past.  They will tell you that they will have your SR "call you" but I have seen posts from families who didn't even get the call on PIR day. I sure hope this doesn't happen to anyone in this group!

Go on the "no news is good news" theory and try not to worry unless you don't get the I'm a Sailor call.  Fingers crossed!

The groups that fly out to A School:  They try to group them together...and I understand that "someone" in the group is elected to "be in charge".  My son told me this....their flight out of Chicago was delayed and they missed their connection in ATL to Meridian.  So Delta put them up in a hotel.  He told me that one sailor in their group was "the leader" and they were to listen to him or there would be trouble!  I believe there is transportation at the airport for them to their base.  I know when they arrive at their duty stations, they usually arrange ahead of time for a sailor from the base to meet them there.

Srsailormoon, It doesn't happen often but it does happen that a sailor doesn't call after BS (duty etc). If your SR did not call during BC and inform you that they were not passing something, it is most likely that they have continued to BS as scheduled, and you can assume everything is on schedule. If your SR was having difficulty passing something (you should have gotten a call) and you haven't heard from them after the BS date you can call the PAO and ask if your SR is still on schedule to graduate.

If you feel you need to call the PAO because there is a doubt about graduation, be aware they cannot and will not give you a lot of information. Just ask of your SR is on schedule to graduate as you are getting ready to travel and have not heard from her/him.

They do leave from the airport as a group, and they are given instructions on what they are to do.

Good morning everyone!
Veteran moms, as time is drawing closer I'm having some more questions. say its the day of my SR's BS21 and I haven't heard from him yet, is it safe to assume he's passed all his tests and is in BS? Would we get a call immediately if they fail their PFA and don't make it to their BS? I know there are others wondering this too. Also when they go to A school, do they all ship out together with the other kids going to that same school? And is there someone waiting for them at the airport to guide them etc. or are they just on their own when they get there?
