N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks Dannaproud. I know. She did say her Aunt sent her a story (she is a writer) to read. I told her in a letter to pass the story around so others can read it. Its like a book. She is in 14 361 so if any of your SR are in her area she will get to read it. Lol

Diannep, thank you, that's what I did on Facebook and he will be having about 5 or 6 people write to him. I think my son was trying to find that kids family though but like I said if they're not writing to him then I highly doubt they are on these sites.

Chin up KJarizona, It is our lot in life as mothers. Sometimes it's hard but you're the Mom and nothing will change that.

maureenwithfive:  Not too many rules with letters but these:

Try to send white envelopes, some RDCs don't like the colored ones...but some don't care

No stickers or writing on the outside....just address/return address, stamp

Don't make the letters too thick.  That makes them have to be opened in front of the RDCs.

No risque pictures, etc.  That can really get your SR in trouble.

Other than that, I think all is ok!

SRSailormoon:  Just post that you have the name of a SR who could really use some mail and let the others friend request/message you for the name/address.  That would be a great thing to do!  :-)

Just got a second letter from our SR and she said she was doing great except for her hands a small and so was having a hard time with the fake guns.lol she got her birth control put in and can only feel it if she lopkes for it. She said she would have passed PT but someone called a time out and now they have to redo it later.
She had an inspection on Mondayso I don't know yet if she passed. She was supposed to call me today but called her fiancee instead. Now I don't know when I will hear from her. She has called him all the times she was allowed to make calls. Makes me upset. I at least still get letters even if thay are short. I guess I should know better as she was independent before she left and I only saw her once in awhile. She lived 4 -6 miles away. Lol. Can't wait til PIR.

My SR told me about a passage from the bible she used to help a shipmate who was upset. I would like to share it with my Navy family.

Psalms 34:4

" I sought the Lord, and he answered me;

he delivered me from all my fears."

Finally got my first contact with my daughter. We got letters today!! I know what it's like to be the one waiting, so I'm sorry for those of you who haven't gotten letters yet. Notice I said Yet. They are coming!

Anyway, my SR had to get wisdom teeth out so she couldn't call but said they would get another chance this Saturday the 24th so stay alert to your phones. She sounded upbeat and said she had made several friends. I told her to ask them if their Moms were on here or not. Evidently her bunkmate is awesome and they are going into the same rating so they are doing well working as a team to get things done. She said the shots were horrible but she lived through it. Excited about passing her first tests and getting training started finally! Cried when she told me she got her dog tags. Don't know why, just overcome. She told me the RDC's weren't all bad. Just doing there jobs to make them good sailors.

It took a 50 ton weight off me to hear from her! I pray your letters come quickly!
