Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Crying is good! It's draining but also cleansing! Some of us have gone from seeing their SR everyday to not hearing from them for 3 weeks. I think we are growing just as much as our SRs! Have faith we raised amazing kids! And cry it makes you feel better! Ha

I'm doing the happy momma dance.......I GOT MAIL FROM MY SR!!!! I was so excited (even if I did cry while reading them). He mailed 2 but one of them had 3days in it. He had 2 of his wisdom teeth pulled the Thursday before they were able to make calls so that's why he didn't call and he wasn't very happy about it. Just so glad to finally hear something from my son

Yes, CoedysMom.  I do believe they pay for them when they order them.  We don't recommend that you all send money through the mail, but that is up to you---they are not allowed to keep much cash there, but are allowed debit/credit cards.!  I would write and ask your SR about this before sending anything.

Diannep - do our SRs have to pay for the shirts if they order them in advance for family? Can I send him money?

Letter came today!! It was such a blessing to read his words. First sentence,"Thanks for the daily letters".He really likes the updates on news and sports, and newly released movie reviews.Pdays were long, but getting into routine now. He is frustrated and very annoyed that others are not giving 100% and don't seem to want to even be there. They lost about 10 due to medical issues. He passed uniform inspection, but failed folding. We laughed as he never folded anything in his life - just threw it in the drawer or closet. Emotions are on high! We all lost it as my husband was reading it aloud and started to cry half way through. Love that boy so much!! Thank you all for your support - Not sure what I would do without this site! Happy reading this week!
