N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you diannep! Praying for a call soon!

I am one HAPPY Momma..... My son called and sounded good. Put a little uneasiness to rest. I am doing a happy dance. He did say he was in a push group and they only had 6 weeks to learn all their stuff instead of 8.

Yes it is, xrosaelenax.  That could be for many reasons....maybe a SR had "watch" (sometimes they let them call later in that case....my son was allowed this when at bootcamp).  Others may have had an appt somewhere else....or they possibly ran out of time for all to call....hoping for those who missed calls, more come in soon!

diannep is it normal for some SRs in the same ship/div to get calls and others to not be able to call? if so do you know why?

My son arrived on the 29th and did not go into his division until the following mon. A long week in sweaty A yellow sweatpants. His words. Lol. He said he gained 5lbs in that first week just waiting around. No PT.

I added the BattleStations discussion above (their final test) in the Forum.

maureenwithfive:  I see that your SR arrived at bootcamp on July 29th.  So actually, by PIR, he will have been there 8 weeks, 4 days.  However, I think the week/day count he was talking about is the training week/day count which is a week or so behind the bootcamp week/day count....they do BattleStations usually on 6-5 (training week 6, day 5) and they PIR anywhere from a week to a few days after that.  My son actually completed his BattleStations a week before PIR, so he would have PIRed on 7-5.

I'm surprised that your SR is in a push division as I thought the highest numbered divisions were push divisions?  That usually means the last divisions to "fill up."  His division/brother division should be doing BattleStations at the beginning of PIR week (not sure which day yet and we can't post publicly on here, but we can private message).

The first paycheck deposits usually don't come in until they have been there at least 3 weeks.  They come in on the 1st and 15th, unless with Navy Fed....in that case, the 14th, and 30th/31st, whichever last day of that particular month is.

They will take 3 PFAs during bootcamp.  The first two are just practice....they MUST pass the 3rd and final PFA in order to do BattleStations, no matter what they did on the first two.  The swim part of it only has to be passed once during bootcamp though.

Yes, NavyMom;  They do their ironing in the middle of the night!  :-)

KJarizona:  It is wonderful for school teachers to collect letters from their pupils to send to the SRs!  They love it.  They can be mailed in a manilla envelope, addressed to a specific SR....to pass out to others.  Make sure the school's return address is on there because the SRs will love writing back to the kids!  We have received such wonderful reports of others doing that in the past!

PaMom:  No, wisdom teeth extraction doesn't delay their graduation.  Just a couple of SIQ days (resting in racks) and they are fine!

Comment by diannep on August 17, 2013 at 5:39pm

Yes, Ladies.  A reminder that we cannot share SRs' last names on this site.  So if you typef a post with your SR's last name, please click on the "X' in the post box and delete it!  Thanks!

Congrats on the calls received today!
